Great beginner break, summer is mental with all the tourists you can literally walk across the water on the boards. Late fall through spring it's empty and fairly good. If you're committed beginner or returning to surfing after a break this is the best place to go before tackling the area's better breaks.
Head south from Santa Cruz. if coming from San Jose take 17 to the 1 south, exit 437 and follow signs to Capitola Village
The Venetian for the true Capitola experience but anywhere in Scotts Valley, Capitola or Santa Cruz and your anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes away from the water.
Finding a parking spot on weekends or in the summer is nearly impossible either park further out and walk or catch an uber XL with a rack lol.
Capitola Beach Company for rentals they're literally next to the local British pub on the water during the summer and rentals are cheap for the area. Capitola surf and paddle for lessons and rentals.
