Lee Chae-yeon (Hangul: 이채연; born January 11, 2000), also known as Chaeyeon, is a South Korean singer and dancer. She is also a rapper and songwriter. She used to be a member of the South Korean and Japanese girl group Iz*One.

Early life

Chaeyeon was born on January 11, 2000, in Yongin, South Korea.[1] She went to Seocheon High School.[source?] She graduated in February 2020.[source?] She has two younger sisters, Chaeryeong of Itzy and Lee Chae-min.[2]

2013–2017: K-pop Star 3 and Sixteen

Chaeyeon was on television for the first time. She was with her younger sister, Chaeryeong, during the third season of K-pop Star. Both she and her sister were taken out from the show. They were able to join JYP Entertainment as trainees.[3][4]

Then in 2015, she was in Mnet's reality show Sixteen. It later made up the members of girl group Twice.[5] She was taken out in the 3rd video of Sixteen. She was not able to debut. After being taken out from Sixteen, she later left JYP.[source?] She then joined WM Entertainment.[source?]

2018–2021: Produce 48, debut with Iz*One, and solo activities

From June 15 to August 31, 2018, Lee was on Produce 48.

On April 29, 2021, Iz*One broke up after the group contract was no longer good.[6]

On July 11, 2021, it was said that she would be in the reality TV show Street Woman Fighter as one of the members for dance crew.[7]

2022–present: Debut with Hush Rush, and Over the Moon

On September 15, 2022, WM Entertainment said that Chaeyeon would be making her solo debut in October.[8][9]

On March 21, 2023, it was said that Chaeyeon would be releasing her second extended play called Over the Moon on April 12.[10]

On Circle Digital Chart, her single "Knock" was at number 26.[11][12]

On April 24, it was said that Chaeyeon would be on the Mnet reality competition show Queendom Puzzle.[13] On May 19, it was said that Chaeyeon would be leaving the show before it got let her out.[14]

On July 3, 2024, she released her 3rd extended play, Showdown. The title track was called "Don't."[15]
