TOLEDO, Ohio — Dry weather and mostly clear skies with dry and mild weather will continue overnight into Friday.
Areas of patchy and possibly dense fog will develop once again after midnight and last into Friday morning. Dense fog may lead to some travel hazards and school delays where it persists. However, the fog will lift by 10 a.m. for a brighter and warmer afternoon as partly to mostly sunny skies return.
Highs will be in the mid-80s for most areas with lakeshore locations in the mid and upper 70s. Mainly dry and warm weather will be expected for Big Board Friday night football games with just the slightest chance of an isolated shower after 8 p.m.
It will remain dry into the weekend on Saturday and Sunday with highs remaining above average for mid-September in the mid and even upper 80s.
The chance of rain showers will return late Sunday and early next week for Monday and Tuesday. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
At this point, there is the potential for half an inch or more of rainfall, which will help dampen the severe drought.
Dry and mild weather will return into the end of the 10-day forecast with highs in the mid-70s.
Dry September
September rainfall is now 1.34 inches below average, making it the 15th driest September on record to date.
Drought conditions
Over 95% of the Buckeye State is experience some sort of drought conditions. 78% of the state is under a moderate drought or worse. Parts of the Toledo metro are now included in the 42% of the state that is experiencing severe drought conditions or worse.
