1984 Abitur at Friedrich-Wöhler-Gymnasium in Singen/Hohentwiel. 1984 to 1989 studied administrative sciences at the University of Constance, graduating with a degree in administrative sciences.
As a graduate in administrative science, she worked in the human resources department of a medium-sized company - as a project consultant for the management.

Joined the FDP in 1982, became a member of the Young Liberals in 1984. From August 1988 to January 1991, state chairwoman of the Young Liberals of Baden-Württemberg; from September 1990 to February 1993, first federal chairwoman of the all-German association of Young Liberals; since 1993, member of the state executive committee, from 1997, deputy state chairwoman and since 2004, state chairwoman of the FDP of Baden-Württemberg; since 1993, member of the federal executive committee of the FDP; since 2001, member of the executive committee of the FDP.
