I suspect that the 1 star reviews can be attributed to the far right. I just downloaded the app. It is incredibly easy to use, showing article headlines with the first sentence or 2 as I scroll down. None of my information has been requested from me. No special permissions were required. I don't even have ANY subscriptions. Something stinks and it sure isn't the Guardian.

Good journalism most of the time, but can no longer access without creating an account. I'm so sick of needing accounts for everything and absolutely refuse to make one in order to access journalism. There's no benefit to it beyond data collection and advertising, which I want to part in. Guess I have to delete the app since it's now unusable.

Updated 1/2025 The content is 5*. The interface is a 4* when it's working. The weird glitches drive it down. 1. Videos don't play in "serious" news articles, do in movie reviews & (some) opinion pieces (weirdly enough they kill text scrolling in opinion pieces). (BTW Vids fine in NYT app) 2. Begging for $£€ is SOLVED👍. 3. Often Forgets my place if I leave the app even for a moment. 2/25: It's started half remembering my spot, leaves article, stays in section. I miss reading it on news360😥RIP.
