Hello Angela! Nice to meet you. I am Pybalo from the Spanish Wikipedia & Wiktionary. I observed the un-sincronized photo caption in Portada, and your work in Template:Picture of the day/Temp. If we wish translate to many languages the caption of the Picture of the day, we will need a time-window between the appearing of the picture and its "publishing". I will try to make a scheduling list of future pictures of the day, with theirs multilple language captions. It's will be similar to [1].

Sorry for my horrible English, (please correct my writting if it is so bad! ;)) Bye bye Pybalo 07:58, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Yes that's true. I was trying to think of a way that it could all be done in one template via parameters rather than having separate templates for each language. It might be possible, but I'm not sure how. :) Angela 07:21, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I have a few days ago created a Template:CopyrightByWikimedia, and added it to the Wiki logos (see Wikipedia). Currently this is provisionally, and some of the logos have a double license, i.e. GFDL and CopyrightByWikimedia. Comments & changes welcome. -- Chris 73 12:36, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I'm not really sure GFDL makes any sense for something which is a trademark. Trademark law applies then, not copyright law, so it isn't really logical to state it is GFDL. I've said at Image talk:Tsca wiktionary logo2.png that I don't think the tag should be added to logos which are only proposed not official. Angela 13:34, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I have removed the GFDL tags from the logos on Wikimedia, and added the CopyrightedByWikimedia logo to what i think are the official logos. I also listed the logo proposal in a different subsection. -- Chris 73 21:57, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Got an info from Eloquence, and guess i was wrong. Currently, only the commons logo is copyrighted. -- Chris 73 22:19, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
It's kind of up in the air at the moment, but it's probably best to leave the message off until we know for sure. Currently some of them are trademarks of the Foundation but without the copyright held by the Foundation. Angela 23:36, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Categories

Hello Angela! From your creation of Commons:Categories I got the impression that you are very anxious about this thing. I just created the Category:CommonsRoot where - so my intention - category tree should start. My goal is, that there are no categories floating around - having no parent category - and from that every category is some how connected to every other. What do you think about that? --Addicted 11:27, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Angela, I was voted in you. :-) How are you? I have a question. Thank you for attention. --FML hi 18:20, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! Thank you very much for the answer, but that (about wikipedia logo) was not my question. :-) That image isn't mine and my English is not so good, I cannot to go verify. But, now, go on to my question: do you believe that I forget my question? :-). Oh God, for now I forget, but when I remember, I ask to you, ok? Bye! --FML hi 03:14, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, just let me know if you ever remember it. You might get a faster response if you ask me at en instead of here. Angela 23:48, 22 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion request

:Category:Mount Rainier

Actually, this a proposal to delete a category, not an image (but I followed the procedure at Commons:Deletion requests). I think the Mount Rainier images may be better handled in articles, Mount Rainier and Mount Rainier National Park, rather than categories. See User talk:Wsiegmund for more. Wsiegmund 05:50, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for telling me, but you could have told me rather than using a Template. :) I'll comment at Commons:Deletion requests. Angela 12:40, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I fear that I take written procedures too literally sometime. I read your comment at Commons:Deletion requests. Thank you for taking the time to respond in such a thoughtful manner. Wsiegmund 23:31, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No problem :) Angela
I've withdrawn my deletion request and reverted my changes to pages that included Category:Mount Rainier. Thank you for your patience. Wsiegmund 18:22, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for letting me know. Angela
I've tried to clarify Commons:First steps. You might want to see if I've succeeded. Wsiegmund 18:25, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. I think it's an improvement. :) Angela 21:16, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking a look at it. Best wishes. Wsiegmund 01:00, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation

Hi Angela,

I'd like to invite you to Commons:WikiProject Tree of Life

TeunSpaans 20:18, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite. Have you thought of collaborating with Wikispecies in some way on this? Angela 01:57, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes of course. Wikispecies is designed to build a taxonomy tree of all living species. We will need that foundation. This project is aimed to document all living species with all appropriate kind of media. The projects are complementary. Media on wikispecies can not be used on the different local encyclopedia, so we will have the media here. Also, for wikispecies it is necessary to describe all tribes, subfamilies, families, superfamilies and such, while this project is concenctrating in the lowest levels, species. (While occasinally going deeper to subspecies and cultivars).

Press photos

I was sorting out the press photos and noticed this. A sole GFDL tag on your press photo is a bit complicated to make any use of it. Any possibility of putting it under an easier license? Thanx notafish }<';> 16:51, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thanx :-) notafish }<';> 10:42, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WIkipedia logo modified

posso modificare un logo di wikipedia? nell'immagine che ho creato, c'è il logo di wikipedia con a fianco un lucchetto (wikipedia lock) fammi sapere ciao

Generally logos that are trademarked should not be modified without the permission of the Foundation. Angela 14:20, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Angela!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thanks for uploading File:Craig-newmark.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

You do realise most people just won't bother and you'll end up deleting freely licensed content without reason? Anyway, I've forwarded the email. Not that it makes any difference - I could as easily fake that as I could lie when uploading the image. Angela (talk) 12:24, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The image was sent to me by the subject. I've forwarded the email to OTRS which says the image was GFDL (this was before the license change). Angela (talk) 01:13, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Commons:FAQ has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this project page, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Icon admin

I would want to be able to copy the image, put things on it and then, upload it to wikipedia and make top icons with it. May I?

It depends on which image you mean. I suggest that you ask on the Help desk. Angela (talk) 02:30, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
