Definition
This article discusses objective measurement of the quality of videos transported over wireless channels.
High performance real time wireless networked applications of video such as Video Phones, PDAs and other Wireless Video devices and Video Surveillance are a very common feature these days. Monitoring and controlling the quality of broadcast video streams is an essential element towards improving the quality of service (QoS). The deployment of video quality control throughout the wireless infrastructure is recognized as a major goal of the global mobile communication industry. Any measurement of video quality will have to encompass the way humans perceive quality. Video quality assessment (VQA) algorithms seek to measure quality in such a way that matches very well with human perception of quality.
