Abstract
This third session on the engineering of object stores concentrated on the generation of code for higher order persistent languages and the garbage collection of persistent objects in distributed shared memory. The link between the two papers in this session is indeed garbage collection since the generation of code for higher order persistent languages is complicated by the problems of garbage collection. An essential part of both papers is that the work has been implemented, experience of its utility gained, and some measurement undertaken.
