Abstract

In this paper, we present mandarax, a rule-based system designed to power object-oriented server applications. We discuss constraints imposed by the system environment, and how these constraints are addresses in the mandarax system design. The focus is on using the iterator design pattern to represent knowledge and on the integration of existing functionality implemented in the application object model. Emerging standards and related approaches are discussed.
