Description
English: Lime kilns A group of six lime kilns built in 1860 by a firm from Dundee. The kiln structure is one of the largest in Northumberland. By 1861 around one in five men on Holy Island were working on the lime kiln although the kilns had shut by 1896. A wagonway and a jetty west of Lindisfarne Castle were also built.
