Eleanor (horse) for DYK?
Hello, Froggerlaura. I noticed your good work on Eleanor (horse) and was about to nominate it for DYK. Will the article be ready soon? There are two sections still empty, so I think you are still working on it. I hope to post the nom. on T:TDYK soon, before the article becomes more than 5 days old and thus ineligible. I am not trying to rush you, though. If you don't want your work to get featured on MainPage, it's alright. Pls feel free to ignore the nom. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 23:15, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delayed response. I had issues with internet access. Thank you for writing up the article. Nice work! Thanks for putting the nom template on T:TDYK, too. I couldn't do that yesterday. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 17:43, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Blink Bonny
Another cry for help/ research problem. Tbheritage have Blink Bonny running twice as a four-year-old and winning once. I had no problem finding the defeat, (pulled up at Goodwood) but I've had no luck finding the win. Maybe a walkover or a match where the other runner forfeited? Tigerboy1966 (talk) 18:32, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. The Goodwood report does make it sound like a "first and last" appearance. I did notice that you made a sub-page for resources, which is very useful. Also thanks for the extra details on Queen Mary and "Little Jack" Charlton. Good job on Prince Leopold as well, although I can't say I enjoyed reading it- it's a sad story. Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Prince Leopold (horse), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Oakland Park and Newmarket (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Walkover
I've just noticed that there is an article walkover, which isn't very well sourced but does at least explain the concept clearly and should therefore save a few key-strokes. I've added it to Eleanor. Tigerboy1966 (talk) 16:46, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Eleanor (horse)
On 11 January 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Eleanor (horse), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Eleanor (pictured) was the first of only six fillies to have ever won the Derby Stakes? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Eleanor (horse). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Laminitis
Thanks for your work on the Laminitis article. Upon looking at that radiograph and comparing it to one I have at home, I think the original uploader (not you) put the gray line for the hoof wall too far out. I jumped onto Google for some non-free images, and these might show you what I mean. [1], [2], [3], [4], etc... But I don't have photoshop and when I've tried to annotate photos in the past it's been a bust, so do you want to take a try at tweaking the image? Montanabw(talk) 16:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Horse birthdays
I bet you know this anyway but... the practice of all horses having their official birthday on 1 January only dates from 1834. Before that it was 1 May- at least at Newmarket. It can make some reports a bit confusing: runners at the Newmarket Craven meeting (more important then than now), often seem to have the "wrong" ages. TbHeritage got a bit confused by this.[5] I have included an explanation with a (print) ref in the Spaniel article.Tigerboy1966 (talk) 07:14, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
Frederick, Cadland
As we are getting close to overlapping now, I thought I'd mention that the above are my next two targets for creation, if that's OK. Tigerboy1966 (talk) 23:23, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds great. I'm planning on starting from the beginning and working forward. Not much info on the early ones though. Froggerlaura (talk) 23:25, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Whalebone (horse)
On 24 January 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Whalebone (horse), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that 1810 Derby winner Whalebone had a 16-year career as a stud, which ended with a fatal injury sustained while covering a mare? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Whalebone (horse). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. 5x DYK?
Hello, Tigerboy1966 & Froggerlaura. I'm not sure if you are interested in getting into the DYK Hall of Fame with a quintuple hook. If you are interested, here's an unsolicited suggestion:
- ... that the 3rd Earl of Egremont (bust pictured), owner of Assassin (1782), Hannibal (1804), Cardinal Beaufort (1805), Election (1807), Lap-dog (1826), is the first person to ever own 5 winners of the Derby Stakes?
Just a suggestion. Feel free to ignore. Happy editing. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 18:11, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Note that Lap-dog (horse) is now plain old Lap-dog.Tigerboy1966 (talk) 02:04, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- The Lap-dog wikipage is 5 days old today and needs to be nominated before its eligibility expires. I have posted Template:Did you know nominations/Lap-dog on T:TDYK with a 4x hook for now. The 4x hook can become a 5x hook when "Election" is created. Thank you. --PFHLai (talk) 06:40, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

On 28 January 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Waxy (horse), which you created or substantially expanded. Update
Currently working on Pan, who stayed in training till he was nine, ending his career running in "egg-and-spoon" races at Basingstoke, so he will take a while. After that I was going to do Sam. I have left Whisker for you as you did his brother Whalebone, so you should have a start there. I have also left you Gustavus as you say on your user page that you like grays. Tigerboy1966 (talk) 01:54, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- When I said that I'd "left" them for you I didn't mean it to sound like I was trying to WP:OWN the project! Sorry if that's how it comes over.Tigerboy1966 (talk) 02:12, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Not at all. I'll take on the last Waxy brother and Gustavus (still have a thing for grays :), have eyes for Assassin and Election too due to connection with Egremont. The horses in the 1780s are going to be hard to do, not many sources. Froggerlaura (talk) 02:21, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

I will take a break from article creation for a bit and work on expanding stubs and improving articles- it seems a bit odd that our recent project left the likes of Cardinal Beaufort, John Bull et al with more substantial articles than West Australian, Gladiateur and other acknowledged "greats". Well done for GA on Waxy. Tigerboy1966 22:10, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. I will get Hermit and Blue Gown up to par, look kind of shabby compared to their neighbors now. Froggerlaura (talk) 23:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Swap you Gladiateur for Hermit. I have already got some material together on Chaplin's colt. Tigerboy1966 01:48, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, probably going to take me awhile to get to. Froggerlaura (talk) 01:52, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
