| Purpose of use |
To illustrate typical style used by Bellmer in his "doll" drawings and sculpture, in particular (1) the "mutated forms and unconventional poses", (2) the type and age of young girl he envisaged and (3) the ball-joint articulation; none of these can be adequately conveyed in words alone, since readers' interpretations of these words may vary considerably. By having such an image, we make it quite plain what Bellmer intended. |
