The FAU College of Social Work and Criminal Justice is located in Boca Raton, Florida and is one of the ten academic colleges of Florida Atlantic University.[1][2] The College offers criminal justice and social work degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.[3]
Background
Originally founded as the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs, it has since underwent two name changes.[4][5] In 2010, the College was renamed to the College of Design and Social Inquiry.[6] After departmental restructuring, the college took its current form as the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice in 2020.[7][8][9] Naelys Luna (Ph.D., Fordham University) serves as the first and only Cuban-American Dean to lead the College.[10][11][12]
The College of Social Work and Criminal Justice is made up by two schools: the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice.[13][14][15] In 2016, the College's Sandler School of Social Work became the first social work school in the state of Florida to offer a D.S.W. degree program.[16][17] As of 2022, the college collectively enrolls 1,979 students.[18]

Accreditation
As one of Florida Atlantic University's academic colleges, it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.[21] The College's Sandler School of Social Work is independently accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and is authorized to award baccalaureate and master's degrees in Social Work.[22]
