Amity University (Hindi : एमिटी विश्वविद्यालय) is a private university in Noida, India established under an Uttar Pradesh state government act. It is also home to the Amity Institute of Information Technology.
The founder president is Ashok Chauhan. It is not approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). As per the university, it is not required to take the approval of AICTE.[1] The university has been involved in controversies, including refusal by the Universities Grants Commission (UGC) to recognize Amity University and an international arrest warrant against its founder president Ashok Chauhan.[2]
Programs offered
According to the university, there are various courses offered, ranging from anthropology to telecom.[3] According to the institute, it has five campuses - Noida, Lucknow, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Gwalior.[4]
2010 Commonwealth Games volunteer training
Amity University provided the vocational training for nearly thirty thousand volunteers enrolled at the volunteer program "Delhi United" for the 2010 Commonwealth games that were held in Delhi.[5][6] Amity University also provided the Games organizing committee with dope-control officials. Amity University is one of the few colleges in India providing educational programs in Forensic Sciences.[7]
