Hello, and welcome to my profile. My name is not Vida – I only got this because of the Coldplay song (Viva la Vida) – call me Jas instead. I am interested in a lot of things. At the same time though, I am kind of a lazy person, as seen in this page which remains largely empty even if I have been a registered user (i.e., a Wikipedian) for almost seven (7) years now.
It is approximately 2:31 AM where this user lives.
Prefers to go by he/him pronouns but is not so particular or pedantic on that one (as I do remember getting flattered when some people thought I was a girl in several phone calls).
These are some of the articles I have created so far (some of these – most notably the KathNiel article – started as redirects), though I would say that other users have expanded it further:
Tropical Storm Ma-on (2022) – known in the Philippines as Severe Tropical Storm Florita, one of the tropical systems that severely affected the Philippines in 2022.
Typhoon Nanmadol (2022) – also (briefly) known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Josie, the most intense tropical cyclone of 2022.
Typhoon Lan (2023) – a strong typhoon that eventually hit Japan as a weaker tropical cyclone. I started this one as a draft and was expanded by other users.
Typhoon Haikui (2023) – also known in the Philippines as Typhoon Hanna; this article was mostly expanded and expounded by other users as well, and while it was not as deadly as its incarnation elevenyears prior to this one, 2023's Haikui was notable for several reasons:
Became the first typhoon to make landfall in Taiwan since Typhoon Nesat in 2017;
Became the first Category 3+ typhoon to hit the said island since 2016's Typhoon Megi (although I would say Megi's 2010 & 2022 iterations were more notorious); and
Tropical Storm Philippe (2023) – a weak but long-lived tropical storm which moderately affected several areas in the Leeward Islands; like in the other articles, I started this as a draft and was improved by other users.
Hurricane Lidia (2023) – a powerful Category 4 hurricane that became one of four tropical cyclones to hit Mexico's Pacific coast in October 2023; also expanded by other people.
Hurricane Tammy (2023) – Category 2 hurricane that affected Barbuda and Bermuda; was also improved by other users.
Cyclone Jasper (2023) – a powerful Category 4-equivalent tropical cyclone that affected northern Queensland as a weaker system and became Australia's wettest tropical cyclone ever; I also started this as a draft, then it was expanded (and moved into the main space) by other users.
KathNiel – a popular love team-slash-power couple in the Philippines which called it quits in real life at the end of November 2023; started this as a redirect, and is the first non-tropical cyclone page that I began (although this was previously created twice by other users in the past; both were deleted I think).
Yedda Marie Romualdez – Filipina-Norwegian beauty queen and politician; started as a redirect but was later converted into an article in May 2023.
Rizal Medical Center – a public/government hospital in Pasig City which was formerly known as the (old) Rizal Provincial Hospital until the creation of the National Capital Region in 1975; this article, however, remains a stub.
2024 North Indian Ocean cyclone season – another article that began as a redirect, and was converted into an article by Typhoon2013 in December 2023 as the succeeding year/season loomed near.
Pantropiko and Salamin, Salamin – articles for the hit singles of the Filipino girl group BINI; both began as redirects in mid-2024.
Hurricane Milton (2024) – an article about a Category 5 hurricane which recently became the fifth most intense Atlantic hurricane on record and currently the most intense tropical cyclone in 2024 and affected the Yucatán and Florida. This one began as a draft, back when it was still Tropical Depression Fourteen.
Hurricane Oscar (2024) – an article about a "surprise" Category 1 hurricane which was, at one point, one of the smallest ones ever seen in the Atlantic.
Aside from those articles which I created, I do recall expanding two articles in the past, both being tropical cyclones (locally called bagyo) that gravely affected my home country:
Typhoon Mangkhut (2018) – also known as Super Typhoon Ompong, which devastated parts of the Philippines before becoming Hong Kong's strongest typhoon since Typhoon Ellen in 1983 (known as Typhoon Herming in the Philippines); and
Severe Tropical Storm Nalgae (2022) – also known as Severe Tropical Storm Paeng, which I personally think was one of the rare tropical systems to severely affect almost the entirety of the Philippines, from Luzon to Visayas and Mindanao.
