Anti-Hindu violence
[edit]Even though there are multiple very closely-related articles, DS is creating an article about Anti-Muslim violence in India. And I presume it will stick since there are many who will like to see an exclusive and utterly one-sided focus on only anti-Muslim violence, who incessantly strive to blindly label every anti-Muslim violence in India as "pogrom".
In light of this and the fact that we already have an article about Anti-Christian violence in India, will it unethical to create an article about Anti-Hindu violence in India as well? Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 08:53, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- If the consensus is that Religious violence in India should be split up, i see nothing wrong in starting one on Hindus either. One would think that those "neutral" editors would themselves do it. But that says something on how neutral they actually are. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 10:38, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with Dharmadhyaksha, if we can have Ant-Muslim/Christian violence articles, we need Anti-Hindu one also, the part of the problem is that there are some highly motivated editors with tremendous energy and time, unfortunately I lack both. Take for example, I had plans of starting an article about Exodus of Kashmiri Pandits which itself is a part of Anti-Hindu violence and too huge and notable enough to have its own article, but somehow I could not create one.-sarvajna (talk) 11:43, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. That's what I am saying too.
unfortunately I lack both - don't worry. Wikipedia has no deadline. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 11:50, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. That's what I am saying too.
- (edit conflict)You're right Dharma, that is the problem with Wikipedia (cf. flaws). Although we like to think that the same yardstick is used to measure neutrality of every editor, the truth simply is far from it. IMHO whatever the consensus is, it doesn't, rather mustn't, supersede the neutrality-policy of Wikipedia. I mean, it can't be that only anti-Muslim or anti-Christian violence need to be covered in separate article but when it comes to coverage of anti-Hindu violence, that need for separate articles magically vanishes. Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 11:50, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- let us wait and see how things progress, there were editors who voted for delete not just because of the name of the article but also because the content was duplicate and a separate article was not required -sarvajna (talk) 12:08, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- As if duplication is even being considered at the DR. They will all come up with that same article with a different name, hopefully with a neutral title this time. About Kashmiri Pandits, dump all the source you have at User:Ratnakar.kulkarni/Exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and we can start writing it as and when we get time. I usually have many such articles and work on them whenever i get time. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 12:18, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- There are more common perfectly encyclopedic topics which are now redlinked for exampe Minority appeasement in India. I tried to create a partial timeline and got frustuated. For example I have heard many rumors that the Malappuram district in Kerala was carved to secure Muslim votes. Can anyone here knows reliable sources of it. I have seen plenty of sorces from RSS but not a single from any neutral source. Why? it is frustuating. The Legend of Zorro 12:19, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- Some subjects just do not have encyclopaedic value other times it is just not possible to gather enough sources to cover a subject comprehensively. However to show you how to find sources and since you chose to write about Minority appeasement in India here are some ways to find sources:
- Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL ←Hope these help. Although I understand why you consider creating an article on that subject, my advise, watching the sheer lack of sources, would be don't waste your time on that unencyclopaedic subject. Mr T(Talk?) Dharmadhyaksha, I will dump my sources there, that would be a good idea, I was also planning to rely on books like Our Moon has blood clots which are not available online. User:Solomon7968 it is very very difficult to get sources for such a thing, even if you find any, I am sure it would be labelled as unreliable source. -sarvajna (talk) 12:27, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

- How about some help on semi-complete User:Mrt3366/Discrimination against minorities in Pakistan? (passes GNG "Discrimination against minorities in Pakistan" I guess??) Somebody please conform the intro to WP:LEAD and WP:BEGIN. Shift unsuitable claims to the correct section in the body. That is a headache I can't seem to surmount. Please help me there & I will be very grateful. I will take care of the overuse of quotes myself :). Mr T(Talk?) (New thread?) 16:03, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- (tps) I suggest simplifying the lead a lot - along the lines of who these minorites are, that they face discrimination and religious intolerance, and stating the key forms of discrimination and/or major incidents. But, the article and topic look legit to me and there's no reason why it can't be put in wikispace. --regentspark (comment) 17:19, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

- Quite simply, no sources for this particular subject. Regardless of my lack of "NPOV" lmao do you think I have not looked into this? An extremely good article could be written on this subject, just ask. Darkness Shines (talk) 17:52, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
2002 Gujarat violence
[edit]I believe that 'Godhra train burning' section makes reader believe that the fire was an accident. I tried to give other side but my edit was reverted by Qwyrxian. I am discussing on article talkpage and improving draft here. Your feedback is invited. neo (talk) 17:51, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- The point is that those theories were before the court verdict and should not be given much importance but just a passing reference. -sarvajna (talk) 17:55, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- Obviously, but he is giving so-called 'academic sources' and admin Qwyrxian is impressed by it. So statements of uninvolved reputed bodies and reliable sources are necessary. I will include court verdict also. But if edit was ensues, some admin like RegentsPark will protect his version FOREVER. Please keep it in mind. neo (talk) 18:09, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
Either correct your source misrepresentation here or be reverted. Darkness Shines (talk) 18:19, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

- Self revert now or be reported for source misrepresentation, edit warring and synthesis. Darkness Shines (talk) 19:09, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

- Huh!! Some one has written something wrong, you reverted my edit for a different reason, now you play a smart tactic to bait me into 3RR violation? Hope the admin overseeing it will note that. All I did in my previous edit was to correct things according to the source. -sarvajna (talk) 19:31, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Koenraad Elst (serious BLP violations in a BLP article)
[edit]There are serious, ongoing and long-term BLP violations in the BLP article Koenraad Elst (see also at the BLP noticeboard).
The BLP article seems to be unstable: Each time someone removes any BLP violations in the article, they are being restored - and an user is again threatening to restore all BLP violations "soon". BLP policy is crucial to be enforced. Because of the very serious NPOV violations in a BLP article, this requires the attention of neutral editors.
The NPOV violations were explained in great detail by the subject of the lemma here:
- The wikipedia lemma on "Koenraad Elst": a textbook example of defamation
- Meera Nanda against Hinduism
These links say among other things:
- Well, there you have it. The lemma on me has ended up taking this form because some militant among your contributors purposely wanted to “warn readers” against me. Please cite me an instruction for encyclopedists that names “warning” among the legitimate goals of an encyclopedia.
- Either you remove the lemma altogether, or you straighten it out and apply the rules of encyclopedia-writing to it. At any rate, in a encyclopedia, I count on being judged for what I myself have said or done, and not for the gossip my declared enemies have come up with.
- If Wikipedia wants to live up to its promise of being a reliable encyclopedic source, it will strike this and all sentences resembling it from its article on me. At most, it can use me as an example of how it was fooled by some of its all-too-partisan collaborators. Speaking of whom: the history page accompanying my page proves forever that some Wikipedia collaborators wanted to inflict on me the maximum harm possible, an attitude incompatible with work for an encyclopedia. --Calypsomusic (talk) 12:00, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

RTI
[edit]Fu*k, why are you considering retirement? So sad!
What happened to your RTI appeal that you filed about Narendra Modi - ji? Did you file online RTI? Please ping me at my talk page. Regards. --18:22, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- He, he, I incorrectly signed with five tildes, my sign is Tito☸Dutta I have two pending RTI nominations (my first two) a) did Mahatma Gandhi adopt Froze Gandhi (copied from RTI application: Some sites, books and documents claim Mahatma-ji did so, some sites, books and documents claim exactly the opposite. In the Lok Sabha profile Feroze Gandhis fathers name is mentioned Jehangir Gandhi. we had a discussion at Wikipedia, see last sction of Talk:Mahatma_Gandhi/GA2#Information_-_Details b) did Govt. of India withdraw Ritwik Ghatak's Padma Shri award? (copy from RTI question: In 1970, it was announced that Ritwik Ghatak would be given Padma Shri award. Soon after, a group of Opposition showed their dissatisfaction, as the year was Mahatma Gandhis birth centenary and Ritwik Ghatak reportedly criticized Gandhi-ji.). I don't know why don't the allow question mark.
I was feeling those category selection as "complicated", so I filed under "Cabinet secretariat" and requested to "recategorize" if it was a mistake.
If you know one more editor here who is interested in RTI, you may start a category Category:Wikipedians interested in Right to Information Act. It may be handy for few WP India editors, in general.
As you filed that Modi-ji RTI, long ago, you are the right person to lead. --Tito☸Dutta 19:22, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- have you already filed the RTI? How did you file that? sarvajna (talk) 19:38, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think the government has any right to disclose the adoptions made by Mahatma, also for Padma awards you could have sent the RTI to the home ministry. Note that any RTI applications which reads like a clarification/question will be rejected. Only information will be provided, you are not asking a question in the application but you are making a request for information. You can wait for 30 days and file a first appeal if there is no reply. Also if they take a lot of time they might give a proper answer. Keep me updated about the status, they are very interesting. -sarvajna (talk) 20:03, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- If you make that category, you can add me. I wanted to know what happened to Shrutlekhan-Rajbhasha, it was developed by C-DAC with government funding, not clear if it was in collaboration but it was later owned by IBM who discretely sold it to nuance who discretely abandoned it (I confirmed with nuance). But C-DAC is obliged to give me the status and the application! Never mind that -- I couldn't file an RTI with them online because their department was magically excluded from the online list, I confirmed it is covered under RTI though. I have hunted these OCR(tesseract is next to useless), Spell check, Speech Recognition for Hindi for quite some time and met only disappointment (the spell correction solution from IIT Madras works though). --AmritasyaPutraT 13:50, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

RTI continued
[edit]I missed both your and AmritasyaPutra's replies above. Ooops. Other than 2 RTIs I mentioned just above. I asked a third question as well.
Question in brief: According to Government reports and data, how many RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and Muslim League members were arrested for protesting against the British or their freedom-fight related activities
Now, the same question in details: Mr. Javed Akhtar, an admirable and famous Indian writer, in an interview given to Mr. Wajahat Khan, Dawn News, Pakistan, pointed out the following thing-- Similarity between RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and Muslim League- Not a single RSS or Muslim League leader was arrested during Indian freedom movement for protesting against British. Now, not a single RSS or Muslim League member was arrested for protesting against British before 1947 - is a bit strange.
For last few weeks, I have been trying to find answer of this question, but could not find any definite answer.
So, being very much fond of information, I am curios to learn: according to Government reports and data, how many RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and Muslim League members were arrested for protesting against the British or their freedom-fight related activities.
Now
- I have receipts (I mean sent to my house by post) only for this third RTI. Should I ask anywhere for receipt of the first two (mentioned above)?
- Just now, the speed post I got from them mentions (this RSS Muslim League question) "The current CPIO is not the custodian of the information sought for by you".
Suggestions? --Tito☸Dutta 08:46, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Tito sorry for the delay for the reply of the first two RTI: If 30 days have passed and if you have not got any reply then you can file a first appeal, even if they had rejected your RTI they should have sent you a reply. For the third RTI also you can file a first appeal as it is the responsibility of the PIO to transfer the request to correct authority but it depends. For example if I filed a RTI with the Home Ministry for some data regarding the population then it is their responsibility to transfer the request to Registrar General of India. RGI comes under HM but I am not sure about your case, to whom the RTI was addressed, which dept. Also the first appeal should be filed within 30 days after the reply was received. -sarvajna (talk) 12:41, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Sarvajna. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Sarvajna~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Canvassed?
[edit]I know that I am supposed to assume good faith but it is difficult to do when someone pretty much comes out of retirement to make an oppose !vote based on alleged POV in the notorious India-Pakistan, Hindu-Muslim area. Were you notified of the Vanamonde93 request for adminship by some other party off-wiki? It is all very strange. - Sitush (talk) 20:16, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Good to see you too Sitush, I was here sever days ago making an edit (if you check my edit history) so not exactly retired but inactive I can say .-sarvajna (talk) 20:21, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- I know. I mentioned your very minimal recent edits. It doesn't address the issue at hand. There is something odd going on regarding many of the oppose votes that concentrate on alleged POV and if you think that it hasn't been spotted, I'm telling you that you are wrong. Too many people who are basically inactive have been turning up, which usually means off-wiki collaboration or, at least, notification. - Sitush (talk) 20:25, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- You keep up with your accusations -sarvajna (talk) 20:28, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Still no answer then. Fair enough: I will draw my own conclusions. - Sitush (talk) 20:32, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Answer to what? That why did I come back? -sarvajna (talk) 20:34, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:00, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Murdeshwar
[edit]Respected Sir, I saw on Wikipedia Murudeshwara page that you had earlier participated in a discussion about my hometown Murdeshwar. I request you to revisit the page and provide your expert comments about my new posting on the talk page of Murdeshwar. I am new to Wikipedia and do not know how to contact members for getting help. It is my earnest request to all experienced members of Wikipedia to help me in getting back the correct spelling of my home town. In my humble opinion, a mistake made by the first author should not be allowed to carry forward. Please take some time out of your busy schedule and help us.
