Etymology
[edit]Formally as kakkaṭa + -ka, but whether kakkaṭa continued into Pali from Sanskrit कर्कट (karkaṭa, “crab”), as opposed to being restored by borrowing, is unclear. This word is clearly related to the Sanskrit word.[1]
