G'day boys n' girls. I am here to learn and help anyone unfortunate enough to be less knowledgeable than myself, if that is even possible.
I am an aged man of over 60 years. I started out in electronics in the 1970s, including "playing" with micro-controllers at a vet basic level before moving on to working in the field of acoustics and largely ignoring electronics and micro-controllers. Now retired, I thought I might pic it up again. I tried to use ST's cube IDE but found it overwhelming difficult to do anything much there. Two entire days trying to achieve the simplest of tasks, using interrupt driven UART reception. This I started looking around for other means and here I are.

Is there a guide as to what git hub is and is trying to achieve, knowing what all the rigmarole of getting here might be helpful.
Another question, I suspect more palatable to members here is the use of resources inside the chip. There are an armful of timers for instance, but what timers should not be used by someone using the software. As an example, I would not like to use PWM to dim a light only to discover that that particular timer is already in use. One similar questions like which UART is used for the serial comms or if they can be chosen.

When I try to use the EEPROM example inside the API file, it crashes when he executes eeprom_buffer_flush(); in the loop, I tried many different ways but it crashes, hope someone can give me some help
