Freud mentem hominis putat in interactione id, ego, superego consistere.[1] Ego, et aliquatenus superego, conscia sunt vel superficie conscia.[2] Id permanet inscium. Una personalitatem constituunt. Id elementum constans et quidem semper praesens est, quod regitur 'principio voluptatis'. Initio Freud vidit id ex vi sexuali exsistere. Post primum bellum mundanum tamen Freud necesse esse sensit alium addere instinctum. Ergo proposuit Thanaton, instinctum mortis.[3] 'Ego' est sensus sui, et superficies personalitatis.
