Ethel, though a great friend of Violet's, still likes Belmont and is Jealous of his attentions to Violet. Belmont visits Violet, but before arriving there, stops at a drug store and seeing an advertisement of a hair restorer, buys a bottle, his hair having begun to fall out. Violet, who had a slight growth of hair on her face, had bought a hair remover and was showing it to Ethel when Belmont arrived. Violet leaves the former sweetheart alone while she goes out to make lemonade. Belmont turns his back to Ethel and reads a book. Ethel determines to get even, and excuses herself for a few moments. She takes the two bottles with her and, putting them in water, removes the labels from the bottles. She then pastes the hair remover on the hair restorer bottle and puts them back where they were before she took them away. Belmont leaves, taking his bottle with him. That evening he applies the supposed hair restorer and before he knows it, he is totally bald. Violet uses the hair restorer on her face, thinking that in the morning when she awoke her face would show no more signs of hair. The nest day Belmont awakens and looking in the mirror is given the shock of his life. He rushes to Violet's house and shows her his bald pate. His surprise is greater, however, when she turns toward him and he sees her face is adorned with a full growth of beard, both bottles having performed their mission.
