Hargrove is killed in the blast. Robin Scott accepts an Insurance Company assignment to investigate the circumstances surrounding the costly accident. Robin extracts his first lead when by managing an unorthodox meeting with Lydia Hargrove, daughter of the deceased, her fiance, Al Gilman, and her "companion," Amy Wilde. This happens when Al Gilman makes a remark to Robin involving the name "Harmon." Through continued investigation, Robin manages to locate Harmon and subsequently uncovers information about him, Gilman, and Amy that could eventually lead to their detection as the people directly responsible for the catastrophe. Formulating a quick counter attack - Al, Harmon, and Amy are very nearly successful in destroying both Robin and Lydia Hargrove. However, because he senses truth in what could be taken to be "insane ramblings" from Lydia Hargrove, Robin devises an out which nets Al Gilman and Amy, and costs Harmon his life. See less
