During an answer and question period with the audience, an audience member, Ryan Fernandez, jokingly questioned Marino's passing ability and produced a football. Marino instructed Fernandez to throw the ball to him. Curt Schilling advised against the throwing of the football as the studio lights presented a hazard should one be struck. Marino told Fernandez to be careful of the lights when he threw the football to him. Marino then rocketed the ball back to Fernandez. Fernandez snagged the ball which prompted Joe Namath to remark, "Hellava Catch." The crowd began chanting "JOE, JOE,JOE" trying to entice Joe Namath to participate in the game of catch. Joe Namath replied, "NO,NO,NO." Marino then beckoned for the ball again and gave it to two US Marines near the front row. Toying with the fellow audience member, the Marines decided to keep the ball and refused to give the ball back to Fernandez. Marino then advised Fernandez that he would have to retrieve it himself.
