In 1959, after a successful singing career on Canadian TV and Radio he was brought to England by Director Dick Lester to appear as a singer in an ITV Special, After Hours with Cleo Lane, before marrying an English dancer and moving to London full time. In 1963 he played the Editor in a BBC soap called Compact and the following year he was offered his first major film role in Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove, playing the co-pilot of the ill-fated B52 bomber. He has appeared in more than 70 features, including the James Bond films, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die and The Spy Who Loved Me... as well as other highly regarded movies such as Rollerball, Star Wars - A New Hope, The People That Time Forgot, Warlords of Atlantis, Superman 1, 2 and 3,The Dogs Of War, Reds, Gandhi, The Hunger, The Holcroft Covenant, Out Of Africa, A Kiss Before Dying, Space Truckers, Spy Game and Batman Begins. Shane is a legend in the world of Gerry Anderson productions, providing one of the most recognizable voices in Supermarionation history for Thunderbirds' Scott Tracy. He is also the voice of Dick Spanner PI in the cartoon series of the same name. He has appeared in TV episodes of The Saint, Danger Man, Doctor Who, UFO and Space 1999 on British TV and has written AND appeared in The Protectors, The Persuaders and several episodes of Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons, Joe 90 and The Secret Service.
