This test demonstrates the deadlock described in
#254 and #263 by running SSEServer.Start then SSEServer.Shutdown. If it deadlocks, the test fails quickly and reliably, rather than hanging indefinitely.

I've confirmed (locally) that the fix from #255 makes this test pass.

Walkthrough

A new subtest was added to the TestSSEServer suite to verify that calling Start() followed by Shutdown() on the SSE server does not result in a deadlock. The test checks that shutdown completes within a specified timeout, ensuring no indefinite blocking occurs.

Tip

⚡️ Faster reviews with caching
  • CodeRabbit now supports caching for code and dependencies, helping speed up reviews. This means quicker feedback, reduced wait times, and a smoother review experience overall. Cached data is encrypted and stored securely. This feature will be automatically enabled for all accounts on May 16th. To opt out, configure Review - Disable Cache at either the organization or repository level. If you prefer to disable all data retention across your organization, simply turn off the Data Retention setting under your Organization Settings.

Enjoy the performance boost—your workflow just got faster.

1404-1434: Clear and effective deadlock detection test.

This test effectively verifies that the Start() and Shutdown() methods of SSEServer don't deadlock, which addresses the issue mentioned in #254 and #263. The approach is well-designed with:

  1. Proper timing controls with both a context timeout (300ms) and a safety timeout (1s)
  2. Clear error conditions that distinguish between context deadline exceeded and other failure modes
  3. Good use of goroutines and channels to manage concurrent operations

This will serve as an excellent regression test to prevent the deadlock from recurring in the future.

@ezynda3 - You can see the failure on CI here. Once #255 lands, I can rebase this (or a maintainer can push this to the branch for #255).

@robert-jackson-glean #255 has been merged

This test demonstrates the deadlock described in
mark3labs#254 and
mark3labs#263 by running
`SSEServer.Start` then `SSEServer.Shutdown`. If it deadlocks, the test
fails quickly and reliably, rather than hanging indefinitely.
