Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider grew up a street away from each other, in a suburb of Philadelphia, and rode the same bus to school every day for all of middle school and high school. The first recording they made was with Garageband in a living room, and that might have been the end of the story. But as it happened, they became the only two kids to go to Yale University from their high school in years.
At Yale, Kurt and Sam collaborated on everything from covers to medleys to an original series "College Musical." Everything took off in August 2009 when a Michael Jackson medley written by Kurt and performed by Sam started making waves on YouTube. The video got featured on Yahoo's homepage, ABC World News, Entertainment Tonight, and a number of media outlets. The attention led to TV appearances on the Bonnie Hunt Show, MTV, and the Today Show. |
