- The ballad-tuned story of father Demeter and his three sons takes us back more than sixty years in the past to commemorate the most significant event of the anti-fascist resistance in Slovakia and Slovak national movement in WWII. The oldest son Ján has been lost in war. Only his wife and father hopes that he returns. The middle son Mato is soldier on side of resistance. The youngest son Peter is quite unclear because he hasn't joined to resistance and there are rumors about collaboration with the occupiers. The fascist's attack makes situation clear and all participants has to choose their side.
- Little Tomas "Pipo" Pipo from Bratislava takes care of an Irish setter whom he names Silvo. He rides with him on his bicycle to see Uncle Sirak in the country. There he meets Marian Djurina, called Maros, and Katka from the children's home. After initial difficulties, Pipo and Maros become best friends. When the adoptive parents can't get along with Maros, Pipo's family takes him in.

While running Adam meets beautiful daughter of a tradesman Betty and falls in love with her. However he can't stay long and must continue running because the enforcers are getting close. As a last resort Adam decides to enlist in Graf Palfy army...

Baroness Strahlov found it and gave it to Prince Zvjozdic as a token of her affection. This causes Arbenin such torments of jealousy that the only way out is the death of his wife. So he poisons her but at the end he realizes that he was wrong.
