Clint Eastwood has consistently directed feature films for over 50 years. He is now 94 years old, which could potentially make the soon-to-be-released Juror #2 his final movie. Given his illustrious legacy, both in front of and behind the camera, it’s somewhat puzzling that Warner Bros. seems to be burying Juror #2, which will reportedly be screened in less than 50 theaters.
Juror #2 will premiere at AFI Fest on October 27th, and Warner Bros. will give the film in limited release on November 1st. Given Eastwood’s decades-long partnership with the studio, not to mention the billions in box office grosses over that time, you’d think the studio would treat Eastwood’s potentially final movie with a little more respect. Well, according to Variety, this is the respectful approach for the studio.
The film, which was produced on a budget in the mid-$30 million range, was originally conceived as a streaming release. Warner Bros.

As Carol Burnett makes Emmy Awards history this weekend, Abe Sylvia is reflecting on his collaboration with the comedy legend.
The Palm Royale creator explained that he had the “biggest imposter syndrome” after Burnett came to be cast as wealthy comatose matriarch Norma Dellacorte in his Apple TV+ series, which was renewed for a second season back in June.
“I didn’t have anyone in mind. But we have a fantastic casting director, Kerry Barden, and he really encouraged us to shoot for the moon,” he recalled to Collider. “It was his idea to go after Carol Burnett for Norma. I said, ‘I don’t know. She’s in a coma. Does that feel too small?’ And he was like, ‘Let’s just ask. There’s no hurt in asking.’ And when Carol said yes, I went into my office and cried with the biggest imposter syndrome. I was like,...

Mike White and HBO may be keeping their “White Lotus” Season 3 cast tight-lipped in regards to revealing plot details on the upcoming entry, but that hasn’t stopped them from sharing how production on the anthology series upended their lives emotionally. Discussing the shoot during a recent interview with Parade, Emmy-nominee Carrie Coon expressed the difficulties everyone faced both as a result of torrential downpours and by being sequestered away with a small group of people.
“It was very, very challenging,” Coon says. “It created a lot of obstacles because we had to keep moving around every time there was bad weather. I think we moved around nine times, so the logistics were tough because who wants to see rainy, cold Thailand?”
Though the work may have been difficult, it seems Coon made it up for it with play, as she spoke of “wild nights” with the dynamic cast, which includes Jason Isaacs,...

Aubrey Plaza starred in The White Lotus Season 2, but the star has not seen herself in the series almost two years after it aired on HBO.
Due to technical difficulties, the Parks and Recreation alum says she hasn’t seen the Mike White-created series.
“I still haven’t, but I’m going to,” Plaza said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.”
Plaza said that she has requested DVDs of the series to watch it, adding, “I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.”

For Palm Royale makeup and hair department heads Tricia Sawyer and Karen Bartek, Slim Aarons’ 1960s photography served as the biggest inspiration for nailing the looks of a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Laura Dern, Carol Burnett, Ricky Martin and Leslie Bibb.
“Aarons really captured the essence of Palm Beach in that time period,” Sawyer tells THR. “He has several books that I referred to daily. There are also some videos online of Palm Beach society women of the period that were helpful.”
Palm Royale follows Wiig’s Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons, an outsider who strives to attain a place in Palm Beach’s high society. Almost every actor in the series, which has been renewed for a second season, references the hair or makeup of a famous actress or icon of the era, explains Bartek. Carol Burnett certainly doesn’t need any more accolades to confirm her legendary status: In a career that has spanned more than six decades, she became a household name thanks to the groundbreaking Carol Burnett Show (1967-78), and has shined on major mediums from Broadway to films. She’s earned Emmys, Golden Globes, a Tony and a Grammy, with only an Academy Award missing from her mantel. But Burnett isn’t pining to get Egot status. “I don’t think movies are my deal,” Burnett says plainly when asked about it. But Palm Royale, Abe Sylvia’s comedy series about a woman infiltrating Palm Beach’s high society, was very much her deal, especially when she heard Kristen Wiig would play the lead character. Burnett, Emmy nominated for her supporting role in the series, talks to THR about playing Norma Dellacorte, making new girlfriends on the show and her lucky Wordle wins.

With her 23rd Emmy nomination coming 62 years after she was first nominated for “The Garry Moore Show” in 1962, Carol Burnett has now been nominated for 14 different shows. The one she’s best known for is “The Carol Burnett Show,” her long-running and wildly popular variety show that ran from 1967 until 1978.
But there were also variety specials, dramas and comedies. And now, at the age of 91, one of the most beloved entertainers of the television age has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the Apple TV+ comedy “Palm Royale,” in which she steals more than a few scenes as Norma Dellacorte, a rich society dame who spends a third of the season in a coma and then another big chunk of it conscious but unable to talk except in grunts and squawks.

Apple TV+ brought viewers to Palm Royale earlier this year, making way for a strong ensemble of empowering female characters, among which included Leslie Bibb‘s Dinah Donahue. Becoming Maxine’s (Kristen Wiig) first reluctant friend of the season, Dinah is initially harsh to the newcomer until she helps her access an abortion, a next-to-impossible task in the 1969-set comedy. Realizing she might be able to trust Maxine to an extent, Dinah may be blackmailed into sponsoring Maxine at her ultra-exclusive club, but over time their dynamic transforms into something resembling a friendship. When it came to taking on the role, Bibb says, “There’s this vulnerability underneath her that I was always trying to find. I think that that’s who we all are as people. Nobody’s just an a**hole. There’s a reason we all have some trauma that led us to this point in our lives.
