Tommy Coster was born in northern California on June 10, 1966. He started playing keyboards at age 4 and co-wrote his first song with Carlos Santana at age 11. By the time he was 12 he had received his first gold record for his work on Santana's Moonflower album. At age 19 he attended Berklee Collage of Music in Boston for 2 years majoring in Jazz Composition. He moved to Los Angeles in 1992 and continued his career as a studio musician and composer. In 1999 he began working with Dr. Dre, and at the age of 33 he had conceptualized and co-written one if the biggest songs in the history of Hip Hop, Eminem's, "The Real Slim Shady". Tommy went on to win 2 Grammy's, sell over 70 Million records and receive RIAA's Diamond Award, in which only 140 projects in the history of music have ever received this award.
