Frank Dimen(1917-1997)

Frank Dimen was born in Hamburg as son of the shipowner Ludwig Dittmers
and Martha de Bachelle. The Dittmers family has been living in Hamburg
since 1282 and has been in shipping continously since 1642 and in art
as silversmith and important artists (museums in Hamburg, Kopenhagen)
since 1584. During 1934 and 1935 he travelled extensively through
Central America, Cuba, Haiti, Santo Domingo,Cuarasao and Venezuela.
He moved to Berlin together with his friend Gert Fröbe and started his acting under Gründgens and Paul Günther until 1939. In 1940 Fronttheater with the Klinge Bühne in Norway until 1941, afterwards in France, member of the French resistance in Bordeaux. 1945 co-established the NDR with Peter von Zahn and others,wrote over 60 radio broadcasts. Regisseur and drammatourg at the Deutsche London Film, Playhouse Studio Reinhard Mohn and Deutsche Film Hansa from 1954 to 1966.
Co-managed the production of over 80 films,including "Die Brücke", "Der Dritte Mann","Stalingrad", "Waldwinter", Esgeschah am hellichten Tag" with Gert Fröbe, "Anastasia"," Hunde wollt ihr ewig leben", etc... Married the actress Karin in 1958 who lived in Berlin at the house of his old friend Grete Weiser. Active as international mediator from 1984 to 1996 between West and East.
