British-born, Cambridge-educated, silent screen actor and writer with previous vaudeville and repertory experience. Appeared in silent comedy shorts for Universal, Kalem, Pathe, and Fox. At Educational, starred in his own series of "Cameo Comedies". From the mid-'30s, reduced to playing bit parts in feature films.
