Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar signed an exclusive multiple-year overall deal with Netflix when their sci-fi thriller series Dark proved to be a hit for the streaming service. They managed to tell a complete, three season story with that show. But their next series, the epic mystery horror 1899, didn’t fare so well. In fact, 1899 has been cancelled after just one season.
The series creators confirmed the cancellation on social media, releasing the following statement: “With a heavy heart we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed. We would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t turn out the way you planned. That’s life. We know this will disappoint millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that...

The indie film stars Beth Park, Therese Bradley, Richard Hope, Robert Vernon, Rebecca Johnson, Sidney Kean, Timothy Harker, Katie Alexander-Thom, and Phill Martin. The Doctor attempts to help the Indian Space Agency about a runaway spaceship of Canadian size headed for Earth. Promising to stop it before it needs to be blown up, he picks up a few friends – Rory and Amy (and Rory’s dad, accidentally) big game hunter John Riddell, and already in his company, Queen Nefertiti of Egypt. They find the ship is a derelict space ark, originally from Earth, created by the Silurians. But where are they, and how did a mysterious and heartless trader named Solomon get control of the ship?
Arthur Darvill had it exactly right when he discusses the latest episode of Doctor Who in a promotional video – “It does what it says on the tin”. The Doctor’s got a gang, Amy has her own companions, Rory’s got his dad, Rory’s dad’s got balls in his pants, the ship’s got a surprising builder,...

Yes, having put us through the wretched 42 , it seems that the man ain't through with us yet. He was invited back to pen a two-part story for Matt Smith's first season, which not only brings back the Silurians but apparently wipes out Amy's gormless whipping-boy once and for all.
It's a shock tactic that could have paid dividends, but in the harsh light of day, it wasn't to be. Which makes my original take on the story somewhat laughable, given that a good story was supposedly elevated to classic status because of an ending that just...
