Stocky character actor, singer and comedian. Began on stage in Munich, 1904 to 1908. Starred in a series of short comedies in the 1910's, as well as occasionally directing for "BB-Film-Fabrikation" in Berlin. Continued successfully into sound films and played key supporting roles in films of the 1930's and early 40's. Often cast as senior civic leaders, theatrical directors, wine merchants, editors, and the like.
