Plot: A man from the future, now trapped in the past, tries to live a lowkey life without disrupting predetermined events, oblivious to the consequences of his foolish actions.

Review: Traveling to the past is a risky business. If you’re not careful, the slightest mistake could alter the course of history, triggering a domino effect of events never intended. Your best strategy to survive the ordeal is to lay low, complete your mission, and return to your time. In Relax, I’m From the Future, Casper (Rhys Darby) thinks rules are malleable and gaming the system to live comfortably is worth the risk of upending the universe. He isn’t looking to harm anyone, quite the opposite. Still, Casper isn’t the brightest crayon in the box, and when things don’t work out as intended, he quickly discovers it takes more than one person to make a difference.

"You're a very disappointing time traveler." Blue Fox Ent. has revealed an official US trailer for an indie sci-fi comedy from Canada titled Relax, I'm From the Future, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Luke Higginson. The film premiered at a few festivals in Canada earlier in 2023, and is now set to open in art house theaters in the US later this month. A man from the future, now trapped in the past, tries to make a life for himself, oblivious to the consequences he has set in motion. Rhys Darby stars as Casper, who is now in his "past", our present, who teams up with a nonconformist skeptic to bring about his "plan" of saving the world. Blue Fox Entertainment‘s Relax, I’m From The Future trailer is here to tickle your ribs after the long Labor Day weekend. The sci-fi comedy hails from Luke Higginson for his feature directorial debut. In addition to operating the camera, Higginson wrote the screenplay and edited the film inspired by his short film of the same name that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 10 years ago.

In the Relax, I’m From The Future trailer, Darby stars as Casper, a time traveler trapped in the past who befriends Holly (Gabrielle Graham), a jaded drifter. They exploit his knowledge of the future, oblivious to the consequences they have set in motion, while a more competent time traveler, Doris (Janine Theriault), tries to stop them.

We’ve been fortunate to cover Fantasia multiple times over the years and it, along with Frightfest and Grimmfest, are staples of Nerdly’s genre festival coverage. What’s so great about Fantasia is the eclectic nature of the films they screen – new films, old films, international films, weird films, documentaries… Fantasia films run the gamut of genres, tastes and subject matter. And it’s now in its 25th(!) year of doing so!

Final Cut (Coupez!) After opening this year’s Cannes, Final Cut (Coupez!), Michel Hazanavicius’s riotous remake of Shinichirou Ueda’s One Cut Of The Dead, is coming to North America.

Even though it is over before it started, the already-cancelled Bellevue TV show premieres tonight, January 23, 2018 on Wgn America at 10:00pm Et/Pt. The Canadian TV series originally debuted on CBC in February of 2017. A second season had been in development at that network, but last May, executive producer Adrienne Mitchell announced it would not move forward. “Bellevue” is set in small-town America, which is another way of saying it’s a gritty murder mystery. Anna Paquin stars in the upcoming series, which she executive produced alongside co-creators and showrunners Jane Maggs and Adrienne Mitchell. While it has been shedding its original scripted TV series, like the cancelled Underground, Wgn America has obtained the rights to the Bellevue TV show. The Canadian series premiered on CBC in February of this year. Anna Paquin stars in Bellevue, and also executive produces with creators Jane Maggs and Adrienne Mitchell, along with Janis Lundman, Michael Prupas, Morwyn Brebner and Jesse Prupas. Once again, Peepers, a film I saw on Sunday at the Just for Laughs Film Festival, is a proof that in Canadian cinema, there are no taboo topics. As a matter of fact, Peepers adds itself to the growing list of smartly written Canadian comedies that deal with sexual desire.

A group of peeping toms led by Steve Sherman (Joe Cobden), a loser who lives in his mom's basement, enjoys taking Montreal's chilly rooftops during the night. Through the unshuttered windows, they want to have a glimpse at a “hottie hookup,” a “panty party” or a “big booty buffet”. However, the peeping toms' life is about to change when Annette Fulvish (Janine Theriault), an academic interested by "male gaze", enters the domain of peeping, which is dominated by men.

As usual, Montreal's Just for Laughs Film Festival has two Canadian films in store and they both come from the province of Quebec. The one we're going to talk is called Peepers, a comedy that follows three peeping toms from Montreal.

Led by the eagle-eyed Steve Sherman (Joe Cobden), a rag-tag group of Peepers take to Montreal’s chilly rooftops under cover of night. They’re on the prowl for the perfect peep—desperate to glimpse a “hottie hookup,” a “panty party” or a “big booty buffet” through unshuttered windows.

But their lives are about to change. Enter Annette Fulvish (Janine Theriault), a brazen academic who turns the tables by setting her sights on the Peepers themselves. Soon it’s a battle royale for rooftop supremacy—will these die-hard obsessives manage to defend their turf, or will Peeping as they know it never be the same?

A few days ago, Alliance Vivafilm, a film distributor, released the first poster of Funkytown, a film helmed by acclaimed director Daniel Roby (La peau blanche) and penned by Steve Galluccio (Mambo Italiano).

In the 1970s, Montreal was the wealthiest city in Canada and was at the centre of the disco movement. The film follows the life of a bunch of successful people who are destroying themselves.

The film - which was made with a budget of $7.3 million - reunites a star-studded cast: Patrick Huard, Paul Doucet, Sarah Mutch, Justin Chatwin, Raymond Bouchard, Genevieve L'Esperance, Janine Theriault, Romina D'Ugo, Geneviève Brouillette, Lina Roessler, François Létourneau, Sophie Cadieux and many more.

Finally, the film will be released in Quebec's theatres on December 17, 2010.

From July 13th to the 18th, the Just for Laughs Festival will hod its 14th edition of Just for Laughs Film in Montreal. Besides, The Cultural Post got wind of Just for Laughs Film's line-up.

First of all, speaking about Canadian feature films, there will be two ones: Alain Desrochers's Cabotins and Seth W. Owen’s Peepers. The first film stars Rémy Girard, Yves Jacques, Dorothée Berryman, Gilles Renaud and Pierre-François Legendre. It tells the story of a ruined ex-showman and actor who would like to get back in the world of burlesque theatre with his former colleagues and organize a tour. As for Peepers, it stars Joe Cobden, Paul Spence, Jessica Paré, Janine Theriault and Ricky Mabe. It tells the story of three men who sneak across Montreal's rooftops with binoculars. However, a young female student gives to these men a taste of their own game.

While the film's director is Seth W. Owen, the story was created by the imagination of Automatic Vaudeville, a Canadian comic trio made of Owen, Mark Slutsky and Daniel Perlmutter.

The story follows a group of voyeurs - or "peepers" (Joe Cobden, Paul Spence and Howard Bilerman) - who like to sneak across rooftops with binoculars at night. Moreover, they have an eye on women. However, an university student (Janine Theriault) plans to give to the "peepers" a taste of their own game. With a plot like that, needless to say that the film's story has been compared to Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window.

Besides, the film also stars Jessica Paré, Ricky Mabe and Amy Sobol.

Finally, a theatrical release date has yet to be announced for this comedy that was shot in Montreal.
