Derek Braasch was born and raised in South Holland by his loving
parents, Ed and Julie Braasch. He graduated Columbia College in
Chicago, IL in 1999 and worked on many features, shorts, and music
videos before directing his first short film in 2002, titled "Right in
front of your eyes". He went on to direct his first feature, "The
Icing" which is due out fall/winter 2013. This film was also assistant
directed and produced by his younger brother, Kevin Braasch. This is
followed by his 2nd feature the grisly and graphic horror opus "Murder
for Pleasure". He has a third feature,which he helped produced, shot,
and acts in titled "Julies Smile", written and directed by Eric A.
Mattson. Derek has a few other projects under his belt and in the
process of completion. "T is for Tentacles" released last fall,
"Hernandez", which finished this past summer, both produced, directed,
and shot by him. He just wrapped on "Imagine a Rose", as 1st assistant
director, cinematographer, and location scout. The film was written and
directed by newcomer Jasmine Allen. He is also editing the short film,
"Last Day of Your Life", which he served as Producer, 1st Assistant
Director and cinematographer. This was also written, produced, and
directed by newcomer Anthony Pellizzeri. His latest project that in the
production stage is the music video he is directing and shooting for
the band Full Throttle.
