Brian George(XVII)
- Actor
Brian George is an actor, former stand up comedian and accessibility advocate living in Halifax. In 2003, Brian got his start in stand up comedy while living on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. For 10 years he hosted a comedy night in Courtenay, BC as well as performed in Toronto and Halifax.
In 2014, Brian decided to make the trek from Vancouver Island to Halifax. He quickly realized if he wanted to see change in the world, he had to advocate not only for himself, but for others who are also living with a disability. After surviving his first winter on the east coast, as well as many other numerous instances dealing with barriers, he made the decision to stay in Halifax and fight for what was right rather than seeing it as "someone else's problem."
One of those instances afforded him the opportunity to have a meeting with Jonathan Torrens and a few short years later, they began working together, first in a commercial for the Nova Scotia government and then in the Bell Fibe exclusive Vollies. Brian can also be seen on the upcoming film Hailey Rose, directed by Sandi Somers. In the Fall of 2023, Brian will also star in the Bell exclusive Roll With It, a series based on real life: a wheelchair user moving to an inaccessibility city and the things he has to endure on a regular basis. While Roll With It is a comedy - Brian has often said living without a sense of humour isn't a life worth living - he also hopes Roll With It changes people's perspectives and will point out misconceptions people may have about people living with disabilities. Roll With It does it's best to show that an accessible world would be a better world for everyone.
