Nobuya Shimamoto is a Japanese actor and stunt performer known for Shogun (FX, 2024), Blood and Treasure 2 (CBS, 2022), Midway (Lionsgate, 2019), and Gangster Exchange (2010). He was nominated in several awards which highlights his talent in acting such as Gemini Awards, Action on Film Festival (LA) and ACTRA awards. One of his memorable performances is a theater play with Théâtre Incliné, " Train: La Promesse de Miyazawa" (2013-2014), shortly after his wife Marie-José passed away in 2011. It was performed and toured in Quebec, Canada and France.
Nobuya was born and raised in Japan and has samurai ancestral roots from his mother. Since his parents were very supportive of participating in sports activities, he joined karate, baseball and swimming team when he was young. That backbone made him become an avid athlete. Now, he is a martial arts practitioner and a certified black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Off screen, he enjoys riding & fixing motorcycles, track-days, playing music, painting and cooking. His daughter called kitchen as "Resto chez Papa" because after years of being a single father made him an excellent cook. Quotes: "Actions speak louder than words" and "Be yourself".
