- Director
- Writer
Roger Bridges is a Los Angeles based actor, comedian, and writer. A
self-described childhood "nerd" and one of nine children, Bridges spent
his formative years growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast not far
from New Orleans, Louisiana. On a whim he began taking acting classes
for fun and eventually would land the role of Asagai in a Bay Area
production of A Raisin in the Sun. The director of The Lorraine
Hansberry Theater/San Francisco took notice of the actor's work in
Raisin and cast him in The Piano Lesson, Bridges' first professional
play. And as they say the rest is history. Bridges received the
majority of his formal training at The American Conservatory Theater in
San Francisco. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2005, the actor has
worked in film, television, and theater. Notable film work includes
Hood of Horrors with Jason Alexander and Ernie Hudson and the
independent comedy film, Extra Ordinary Barry. Bridges has had featured
television roles on Grey's Anatomy (ABC), Law & Order: LA (NBC) Private
Practice (ABC) and the new action comedy Supah Ninjas (Nickelodeon).
Roger's Los Angeles stage performances include roles in Savage
World/Met Theater, Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun/Boston
Court Theater, and David Mamet's Edmund/Underground Theater. He is
coached by his mentor, director Gordon Hunt, father of Oscar winner
Helen Hunt. Bridges has performed stand up at the Ha Ha Comedy Club in
North Hollywood, CA and The Comedy Store in Hollywood, CA.
In addition to being a talented actor and performer, Roger is a trained social worker and professional mentor with a masters degree in social work. He has dedicated nearly his entire adult life to advancing children's causes and issues, working as a counselor to children from all walks of life and as a mentor to at-risk youth. Bridges helped to start an after school tutoring program for at risk youth in the Los Angeles area and has given inspirational talks to youth and parents in The San Francisco Bay Area, Watts (Los Angeles) and Atlanta, Georgia.
