Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves will be tour mates this summer, but first the two will come together for the 50th episode of “Crossroads,” Cmt’s innovative series that pairs country artists with acts from another genre. “Cmt Crossroads: Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves” will premiere June 13, not only on Cmt, but on sister stations VH1, MTV, MTV Hits and Palladia. The show should provide a big boost for Musgraves, who won Grammys this January for best country song and best country album, but has yet to break through into the mainstream. As with past episodes, Perry and Musgraves will share stories and songs in the hour-long episode. Past pairings have include Def Leppard with Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi and Sugarland, Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum, Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams, and, most recently, Dierks Bentley with OneRepublic. Perry's tour kicks off June 22 in Raleigh, N.C.

She also explained that she's on perfectly good terms with her bandmate, Kristian Bush, and has his support in her latest music endeavor. "I didn't want to do a solo project out of dislike of the band. I love that music but there's something else I had to prove to myself,"...

Jennifer Nettles surely is more comfortable hosting "Cma Country Christmas" this time.

You don't expect to find a classical singer as part of a "Cma Country Christmas."
That's exactly what Katherine Jenkins enjoys about joining many country music stars on the annual ABC special airing Thursday, Dec. 20 (and repeating twice the following weekend).
The mezzo-soprano and Season 14 "Dancing With the Stars" runner-up has a new holiday album to promote -- "This Is Christmas" -- and during the two-hour show's taping last month, she liked being able to do so among such Nashville staples as Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles (back as host for the third year), Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town and The Band Perry.
"I must admit that when I first got invited, I wondered if maybe they'd made a mistake," pleasant Wales native Jenkins tells Zap2it. "Actually, I was really honored when they asked. I'd always wanted to go to Nashville; it was definitely...

“There are 7 billion voices, and very few of them are unique and special.” That quote from R&B star John Legend was supposed to sum up the difficulty of trying to find two amateur vocalists with whom he could share the stage on Duets, ABC’s new entry in the reality singing sweepstakes. But in a larger sense, Legend’s weary commentary might also reflect the uncertainty of a TV audience that’s trying to figure out if it needs — or even wants — the search for new radio and iTunes stars to be a 12-month-a-year endeavor.

Looks like "The Voice" gave Kelly Clarkson, Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke the TV mentoring bug.
ABC has revealed that those three music superstars and Sugarland's frontwoman Jennifer Nettles will serve as mentors and singing partners on "Duets," the network's new signing reality competition that premieres this summer. Though the crowded genre already includes "American Idol," "The Voice," "The X Factor" and "America's Got Talent," "Duets" has its own spin.
According to a press release from ABC, Clarkson, Nettles, Richie and Thicke will search for talent across the country before ultimately choosing two singers as their duet partners. Each week, the stars and their protégés will perform and the eventual winner will get a recording contract with Hollywood Records.
"The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an...

Sunday night (December 18), some of the music industry's most-soulful divas will be taking the stage for the latest installment of "VH1 Divas." For some, like Kelly Clarkson, it's a return engagement, but for others, like Florence and the Machine leading lady Florence Welch, it's the chance to display diva-like prowess for the first time.
Since the show kicked off in 1998, it's had a long history of getting some of the biggest female performers in the world on the same stage belting out some of pop's best tunes. That first show gathered Aretha Franklin, Gloria Estefan, Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Mariah Carey, quickly becoming a pop-culture milestone. Jennifer Nettles, the bubbly blonde lead singer of Sugarland, hosted the 2011 Cma Country Christmas. She was a great emcee, especially when she kicked off the festivities with the Mariah Carey hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You."
Mariah will always have the definitive version, but Jennifer's country version was delightful. Video is below, though we'll sub in better video when we have it.
In her pre-show interview above, Nettles says, "The good thing about Christmas is there are songs that are wild and campy and outrageous, that lend themselves to costumes and dancers, all the way to tranditional songs tha tare more somber and beautiful and backed by an orchestra. You will get the whole spectrum of musical entertainment, must like the old-school variety shows."
Definitely, Jennifer.

Jennifer Nettles had a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. The Sugarland singer, 37, quietly tied the knot Saturday in a small, sunset ceremony in Tennessee. Wearing an Alexander McQueen gown, Nettles married entrepreneur Justin Miller at a chapel nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in front of an intimate group of close family and friends, including bandmate Kristian Bush. Miller is a former model who's been dating Nettles for more than two years. He appeared in the video for the band's 2006 single, "Want To," and accompanied the singer to the Cma Awards on Nov. 9, where Sugarland...

Sugarland has unfortunately found itself in a sticky legal situation. The country duo are being sued by 44 victims of last August's terrifying stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair for negligence. Here's the deal. The complaint, filed in Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis and a copy of which was obtained by E! News, accuses Sugarland, concert promoter Live Nation, Esg Security, the stagehands' union, and other companies of failing to ensure a safe environment for concertgoers that contributed to the tragedy. On Aug. 13, massive gusts of wind from a coming storm caused the outdoor stage at the fairgrounds to topple over onto the front rows, killing seven people and injuring over...

Breaking Bad is renewed for a final season of 16 episodes on A&E. It's likely that will bring it to a close in 2013, which should give me time to catch up from the beginning before the end.
Rep. Michele Bachmann again dodged questions about gay rights, denied previous audio footage and claimed she doesn't judge. She's terrifyingly impossible to knock off message. She doesn’t' answer the question that's asked, just what her talking points are. And I'm afraid most of the country doesn't notice.
Slightly more entertaining is this satiric piece about Governor Rick Perry who may be the true threat.

Five people are dead and about 40 more were injured, officials confirmed, after high winds caused the collapse of a stage at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Saturday as crowds waited to see Sugarland perform. Concertgoers at the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand in Indianapolis were warned that in the case of inclement weather, they were to move to the Pepsi Coliseum nearby. "We are all right," Sugarland Tweeted on Saturday night in response. "We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength." Opening act Sara Bareilles performed her set before the bad weather struck.

Nashville, Tenn. — Ludacris made a surprise appearance, as did Sheryl Crow's underwear. Lady Antebellum laid down a funky beat with Charles Kelley doing a Don Henley impression. And a sassy Wynonna Judd put Kid Rock in his place.

As often is the case at the Cmt Awards, though, the show was as memorable for its unlikely mashups and celebrity cross-pollination moments as for its winners.

Closing the celebration night of 2011 Cmt Music Awards on June 8, just before the live duet between Jason Aldean and Ludacris, was the winner announcement of Video of the Year. And the top honor was presented to Taylor Swift who unfortunately couldn't be there because she's in the middle of her tour and is currently in Milwaukee.
Taylor appeared on the nominee longlist along with the likes of Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band. However, only she, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert and Sugarland who made it to the final battle.
The rest of the winners, in addition to the early winners, are Trey Fanjoy, The Band Perry and Blake Shelton. Trey won Video Director of the Year, Band Perry got Nationwide Is on Your Side Award, and Blake grabbed Best Web Video of the Year. That was Perry and Blake's second win.
