Kim Gregory(I)
- Actor
Kim Gregory Bio:
As quoted in the New York Times: At 31(at the time) when this was written, this handsome 5'11" Michigan native told us he was adopted at ten days old. "My mother's birthday is April 10th and my parents got me on the 11th, so I was sort of a birthday present, he says proudly." I grew up with a younger brother "Clint Hough" on a farm in the country," he explained. "We had five acres and a big, huge barn. We had horses, chickens, turkeys, pigs, goats, cows, cats, dogs, and a lot of fresh air. It was rural and even though I loved that lifestyle growing up, I'm definitely an Actor and a big city person now.
Manhattan Model Search, NYC Fame; Actor, Model & Music (Talent Scout with Dick Scott (New Kids on the Block Manager 8 years) November 1984 - November 2022 (38 years) I was discovered by the founder of this company when it was called Manhattan Model Search back in 1988, sign with my first agent Gilla Roos in 1989 and moved to NYC.
I also have been an actor, model, producer, writer, talent, music scout for 32 years with the top scouting companies, Manhattan Model Search, Proscout, NYC Fame, and Model Search NYC. We have over 18,000 discoveries with these companies.
While scouting models & actors I met Dick Scott former mgr. of Diana Ross, James, Ingrams, Patti Austin, New Edition, Boys II Men, Snap, Tiffany, New Kids on the Block, Mark Wahlberg and several other Music Acts. I had the chance to be his Asst. and part of his team for 8 years before he passed away. In our scouting travels together, we scouted over 25,000 new bands.
At 20, after a short stint in college where he played football and baseball; Kim took a job with Hostess Cakes for several years. "I was making great money and had all the Twinkies I could eat," he joked. "I serviced two different routes and then became the route supervisor, then later Branch Manager and was given 800 accounts. At the same time, I started acting and modeling, working in Grand Rapids, Chicago and Detroit. I did print ads and commercials for some very large companies, Steelcase, Amway, Herman Miller, Meijers, Gilmores Dept. stores, Rogers Dept. stores, and Dayton Hudsons, start taking acting classes at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and appearing in plays. I went to a modeling and acting convention where I met an agent from New York City and he said, 'hey, if you come to New York City, we'll represent you.
So, this bright, articulate and soft-spoken Aries made his way to the Big Apple to pursue his real dream of acting and filmmaking. I've studied at some of the most prestigious schools in New York City "The Neighborhood Playhouse, New Actor Workshop, Terry Schrieber Studios, Weist-Barron" and with some of the most respected teachers in the business," he added enthusiastically. I also managed "The Coffee Shop" a very trendy cafe while I honed my craft.
I started in the restaurant business washing dishes around the age of 12, I started as a dishwasher, then became a grill cook, buffet server, dining server, bartender, Asst. Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director of Operations, and a % partner. Some of the other top restaurant/lounges I have managed include B Smith's, America, and Metropolitan Café. In 1997 I was the managing partner of a cigar bar called "The Grotto"; it became a very special place for the entertainment people of NYC to smoke cigars. Here in LA I managed The Canyon Clubs, Sterling Venue Ventures, Santuari at The Toluca Lake Tennis Club, The Foundation Room at the House of Blues, Avalon Nightclub, Pig n' Whistle Hollywood, Falcon Hollywood, Salvage Lounge, and all Hot Spots in LA. One project or venture I'm proud of is Santuari Restaurant, Santuari Restaurant is also in the same building and shares space with the legendary Toluca Lake Tennis Club, the premier tennis facility in Los Angeles for 44 years. I love sports, and I'm also a very big U of Michigan football fan. I helped set-up the game watches on Saturday morning on both coasts. Here in LA we can have up to 1000 people show up to watch their favorite team the Michigan Wolverines. Hail to the Victors! I am also a very big New York Yankees fan. I guess I'm a fan of all sports.
I was on a soap opera for three years called Cable Crossings, I've done about twenty-five commercials, been in a Madonna video, seventeen films and in two hundred print ads, he adds with a boyish charm. "But I'm getting there." I'm on the journey of someday being a film producer.
