The logging scenes were taken from two previous Warner Brothers films - Valley of the Giants (1938) and God's Country and the Woman (1937) - to save the costs of sending out a second unit to shoot new footage just for this picture. Unfortunately, both these films were in Technicolor, and this low budget effort was in black and white, and so the precision and beauty of the previously filmed images was lost in translation.
