Quotes

Monty Walker : [the logging crew's train has just arrived in the town of Deep Well, which appears to be deserted] Hey, where's everybody?
Jim Hadley : I don't know.
Jim Hadley : [Jim then notices the old stationmaster] Hey, friend...
Monty Walker : Hello friend. What's going on here?
Bill Burroughs : [Unconcerned] Nothing.
Monty Walker : Well, where is everybody?
Bill Burroughs : What'd you expect, a brass band?
Monty Walker : Sure! Why not?
Bill Burroughs : You know, folks around here don't take to loggers.
Monty Walker : Now, look here, mister. Every place we go people are happy to see us. We spend money like water. Why, we'll put this town on the map.
Bill Burroughs : Or take it off!
[scowls and walks off]

Monty Walker : It's our timber, Jim. We paid for it. We're not leaving yet. Nobody's gonna' take it away. Nobody.

Monty Walker : Now, uh, tell me partner, uh, what about the girl? Who is she? Is she pretty, maybe?
Jim Hadley : Not bad. Her name's Riley.
Monty Walker : Riley? You sure she's a girl?
Jim Hadley : Unless they're making shirts different these days.
[Monty laughs]
