Deadpool & Wolverine practically put a waning franchise back on the map, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. This film not only cemented Marvel as a lucrative player in the R-rated film space but also brought in the most Marvel Legacy cameos that audiences have seen in the MCU.

Among them, Channing Tatum’s Gambit stood out as the Mvp, especially given that all his peers at the end of time came from defunct Marvel franchises outside of the MCU. Channing Tatum was not able to get his Gambit film off the ground but received a cameo anyway. Now, Ryan Reynolds has released new footage that has reignited rumors of another film.

Well, yes, in our reality she is. It turns out that this Cat is from another world, Kelly is able to work out that Brice is still alive but in Cat’s world. When dropping out of Ftl, it seems that two versions of Ark-1 crossed paths with each other.

The Criterion Channel’s August lineup pays tribute to auteurs of all kinds: directors, actors, and photographers, fictional or otherwise. In a notable act of preservation and advocacy, they’ll stream 20 titles by the Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine, here introduced by the great Richard Peña. More known (but fun all the same) is a five-title Paul Thomas Anderson series including the exclusive stream of Licorice Pizza, as well as a Philip Seymour Hoffman series that overlaps with Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love (a Criterion Edition this month), and The Master, plus 25th Hour, Love Liza, and his own directing effort Jack Goes Boating. Preston Sturges gets five movies, with Sullivan’s Travels arriving in October.

The gaming community is currently mourning the closure of two Xbox-owned studios, Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks. Tango was most well-known for the exceptional indie title Hi-Fi Rush, while the former is infamously known for the disastrous Redfall and the underrated Prey.
With the recent closure of the studio, many fans and devs alike are both stunned and confused as to what could have led to this decision. Head of Arkane Lyon, Dinga Bakaba, recently shared his thoughts on the whole matter, and to be blunt, he sounds mortified by the events that have just taken place.

Generally speaking, the acquisition of Bethesda was a huge deal for Microsoft. Now that the ship has sailed, gamers are left wondering why there was a sudden shift in attitude towards studios under Bethesda.

Featuring famed directors such as Argentina’s Ariel Rotter and Spain’s Benito Zambrano, who have not only played but won at Berlin and San Sebastian respectively, Malaga’s 19-pic out of competition strand is a testament to the buyer-driven pulling power of Malaga , thanks to its significant market.
Multiple other name auteurs pack out the selection, which also includes a far stronger line is broad audience comedies than most festivals would risk.
This is certainly territory for discoveries and breakouts – a healthy Málaga tradition.

Any longtime Spider-Man fans would be forgiven for sighing after watching the first trailer for Madame Web. Not because of its PG-13 horror tones or soap opera vibes (both familiar parts of superhero comics).
No, they cringe because of the movie’s big bad, Ezekiel Sims. Throughout the trailer, Dakota Johnson’s Cassandra Webb finds herself hunted by what appears to be a black-suited Spider-Man, whom she eventually recognizes as researcher Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim). For most viewers, the trailer serves as their introduction to Sims. But fans of the Spider-Man comics might recall him from the days long before guys like Paul drove readers nuts.
Ezekiel Sims debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #30 (2001), written by J. Michael Straczynski and penciled by John Romita Jr.. Straczynski reimagined Spidey’s origin not as a fluke accident when a random radioactive spider bit Pete on the hand, nor even as a larger conspiracy.

Helen (Louise Brealey) wakes in a bright, all-pink room, but the reality of her life is nothing like the whimsical room she's awoken in. She lives with her ex-husband Gary (Celyn Jones) and his girlfriend Amy (Emily Fairn in a hilarious performance evoking "Little Britain"). She's not moved out as she has a strong connection to Gary's mother Gwen (Sorcha Cusack), who she cares for when not working night shifts at the local chicken plant. Leaving is all too tempting -- in the opening scene, she takes a suitcase out from under her bed but doesn't go through with packing. Her friends at the plant, Lynn (Emily Aston), Clare (Cat Simmons), and Paula (Beverly Rudd) try and get her to open up, but she seems resigned to the predictable monotony of her life in a small Welsh town.
That all changes when Joanne (Annabel Scholey) re-appears in their quiet town after years away.

There are still millions of Americans among us who remember where they were when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 and countless millions more who have been inspired by the legacy of King’s historic work on behalf of civil rights. But there are few who’ve put their careers and companies on the line to advance King’s work more emphatically and dramatically than Byron Allen.
In 2015, after settling a long-running lawsuit against AT&T for discrimination, Allen’s Entertainment Studios filed a $10 billion lawsuit against Charter Communications, claiming the telecommunications giant was in violation of the 1966 Civil Rights Act. After five years of legal wrangling and bruising media coverage, the two sides settled out of court.
In that same year, Entertainment Studios also sued Comcast for $20 billion and years later that suit was also settled out of court. In May, Entertainment Studios sued fast-food titan McDonald’s for $10 billion,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Other Two Season 2.] Season 2 of the hilarious, must-watch comedy ends with the two members of the family who are usually categorized as the “The Other Two” finding success: Brooke (Heléne Yorke) is doing well as manager (and even has a non-family member client!) and Cary (Drew Tarver) is getting ready to start working on a movie, Night Nurse … just as the pandemic hits. Meanwhile, the others finally see how overworked Pat (Molly Shannon) is with her talk show, game show, and everything else, and Chase (Case Walker) lets his frustrations over not singing known. Executive producers Sarah Schneider and Chris Kelly discuss where Season 2 left everyone and begin looking ahead to Season 3. Will there be a time jump to move past the pandemic? This article contains spoilers for the first two episodes of The Other Two season 2.
We expect a lot from our TV comedies nowadays.
Maybe it’s because the mid-2010s saw an increasing number of talented comedians trying their hands at being auteurs. Or maybe it’s because the Emmy Awards categorized basically anything with half-hour episodes as a comedy, regardless of their Jokes Per Minute (Jpm) status. But whatever the reason, many sitcoms are expected to ask us to examine the human experience while making us laugh at the same time.
Sometimes, however, you just want to laugh so hard that you’re barely able to remember you even have a corporeal form, let alone comprehend life’s many mysteries. Thank God then for shows like HBO Max’s The Other Two. The Other Two comes from former SNL writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider and stars Drew Tarver...

The premiere of Serbian drama series “Bad Blood” Wednesday night at the Sarajevo Film Festival was more than just the usual red-carpet event. An ambitious, decades-spanning period drama that chronicles the waning years of the Ottoman Empire, it was the first series from the festival’s CineLink Drama co-financing forum to go into production since its launch in 2016.
“We have now closed the full circle for TV series in the festival,” says Sarajevo’s long-time industry head Jovan Marjanović, who recently became the festival’s co-director alongside founder and director Mirsad Purivatra.
Five years after Sarajevo added a TV strand to its CineLink industry platform, drama has become an ever-larger part of the festival’s program. In addition to CineLink Drama, the co-production market which presents six high-end drama series in development from Southeastern Europe, there’s Avant Premiere, which this week introduced “Bad Blood” and four other anticipated Balkan...

One of Europe’s first 2021 on-site festivals, held at Guía de Isora on the west coast of Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands, top Spanish doc festival MiradasDoc awarded its best film prize on Saturday to Argentina’s “Shady River,” directed and lensed by Tatiana Mazú González.
The 14th MiradasDoc’s festival awards were unveiled Saturday as its heads reported substantial growth in its MiradasDoc Market. That can be put down in part to the market’s online edition, which allowed many more decision-makers to view projects, hiking both one-to-one meetings and festival-sponsored prizes at the event, said David Baute, MiradasDoc artistic director.
Produced by Argentina’s Antes Muerto Cine, “Shady River,” Mazú González’s third feature, which took the Prix Georges de Beauregard at last year’s FIDMarseille, plumbs the collective misogyny of Patagonia’s mining towns where men are miners and women silent and legend still has it...

Producer of Argentina’s Oscar entry “Sleepwalkers,” Juan Pablo Miller’s Buenos Aires-based Tarea Fina has unveiled “El Hijo Deseado,” the next film by Berlinale Jury Grand Prix winner Ariel Rotter.
Its announcement comes as Tarea Fina advances on post-production of “La Encomienda,” from Pablo Giorgelli, whose “Las Acacias” was awarded the Cannes Festival’s Camera d’Or for best first feature by a jury presided by “Parasite’s” Bong Joon Ho.
Both films maintain Tarea Fina’s hallmark of exacting, carefully crafted movies which break out to big festival prizes and sometimes global art house distribution.
“We always work like artisans, producing a small number of films a year so that we can care for them a lot, whether they’re first features or from established directors,” Miller told Variety during Ventana Sur where “El Hijo Deseado” looks to have been one highlight of the market’s Proyecta section.

Screenwriter Grady Hendrix calms some fears about the rising Satanic Panic.
Directed by Chelsea Stardust (All That We Destroy), the upcoming horror comedy Satanic Panic plays fast and loose with demonic forces. Hayley Griffith (The Loudest Voice) plays the virgin, Sam, a little low on gas but high in spirit. The high priestess of the satanic cabal is Danica Ross played by Rebecca Romijn. Her followers pledge themselves to Baphomet, and incur the playful wrath of a lesser demon because they didn't read the fine print.
The devil is always in the details, and novelist Grady Hendrix, who wrote the screenplay from a story he wrote with Ted Geoghegan, can find them with the Dewey Decimal System. Hendrix, who wrote My Best Friend's Exorcism (2016) among other funny fright films,...
