The original director of the movie, Bhagwan Das Varma, had passed away and he had already had shot some 12 reels of the movie. Then Shammi Kapoor told Manmohan Desai to complete the movie. When Manmohan Desai saw what has been shot, for the betterment of the movie, he had to sit with the writers and again he had to reshoot the whole movie. Whatever was shot had to be scrapped.

Nanda's brother stated she was offered the film but she declined it due to Shammi Kapoor's bad reputation in the industry. Shammi was known to get involved with all his heroines.
