There’s a new Jurassic World movie coming next year, but one key character is seemingly not coming back.

Jeff Goldblum opened up to Total Film about his fate in the franchise in a new interview.

For the publication’s final issue, Jeff said that his Jurassic Park character, the celebrity mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, may be finished in the series ahead of Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali.

In an interview with Total Film for the publication’s final issue, the actor shares that he thinks his “Jurassic Park” character, the celebrity mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, may be finished, as the franchise prepares to relaunch next summer with the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth,” starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali.

Jurassic Park (and later known as Jurassic World) is one of the most beloved film franchises in movie history.

The franchise was created by Michael Crichton, and is based on a failed attempt to launch a theme park made up of cloned dinosaurs. It all started in 1990 when Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment bought the rights to his novel Jurassic Park before it was published, leading to Steven Spielberg‘s 1993 original.

Michael‘s 1995 sequel novel, The Lost World, was followed by a 1997 film adaptation, also directed by Steven Spielberg. A film franchise was then born including Jurassic Park III.

In 2015, a second trilogy of films began with the fourth film in the series, Jurassic World, followed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022). Now, Jurassic World Rebirth, a new film set after the preceding trilogy, is set for release in 2025.

It all started – or stop-started, perhaps – with some tiny pterodactyls. As 1924 drew to a close, Marcel Delgado was putting the finishing touches to 50 model dinosaurs. For months, the sculptor had been meticulously constructing a range of Tyrannosaurus rexes, brontosauruses and pterodactyls. Now he was getting ready to pass them on to pioneering animator Willis O’Brien, who would painstakingly move each creature an almost imperceptible amount, shoot another frame, and then repeat the process.

A year later, The Lost World – the first ever feature film using what was termed “stop-motion” – was released, transforming Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel of the same name into an action-packed spectacle. Audiences were astounded, even dumbfounded by its seemingly supernatural special effects.

While "Jaws" wasn't Steven Spielberg's first movie, it was the movie that put Spielberg on the map. Plagued by production woes (it went over-budget and over-schedule), there was a really good chance that "Jaws" could've ended Spielberg's career just as it was getting started. Instead, the killer shark flick pretty much invented the summer blockbuster as we know it and made Spielberg a superstar. Audiences lined up around the block to see what Spielberg had created, and the massive success pretty much ensured Spielberg could do whatever the hell he wanted for the rest of his career. So what did Spielberg want to do next? Well, it sure wasn't a "Jaws" sequel, that's for sure. In 1975, Spielberg — according to John Baxter's book "Steven Spielberg: The Unauthorised Biography" — scoffed at the idea, saying that making a sequel "is just a cheap carny trick."

But studio Universal definitely wanted a sequel.

For over 30 years dating back to Steven Spielberg's original blockbuster classic "Jurassic Park," these movies have been a force to be reckoned with. While it's generally accepted that nothing has come close to topping the 1993 adaptation of Michael Crichton's novel that started it all, these movies have been tremendously successful. To date, across six films, the "Jurassic" series has generated more than $6 billion at the global box office. That being the case, we're getting yet another entry next summer in the form of "Jurassic World Rebirth." That title seems a bit on the nose as this movie has a lot of heavy lifting to do to secure a meaningful future for the franchise.

As Scarlett Johansson begins filming the latest installment of Universal’s enduring dino-centric action-adventure, she received a warm welcome to Jurassic World from franchise veteran Jeff Goldblum.

Having co-starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer last year, Emily Blunt could be about to work with another household name director. According to a new report, she’s in ‘early talks’ to play one of the leads in Steven Spielberg’s currently untitled 2026 film.

According to Deadline, the secretive film will have two lead characters, one of which would most likely be Blunt if the deal’s made.

Godzilla is a creature all his own, but he's often classified as a dinosaur; one dinosaur species, the Gojirasaurus, was even named in 1997 as a tribute to the King of the Monsters. This has been out there in the ether for some time, but it’s looking quite solid. This puts Johansson in business with another major movie franchise following her Black Widow days at Marvel, which resulted in the star suing Disney over the 2021 pandemic release of that movie, which the studio opted to go day-and-date on Disney+, thus siphoning box office grosses. On the heels of Christopher Nolan potentially being paid a jaw-dropping salary for his critically acclaimed film Oppenheimer, it appears that even rivals Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg. It was recently revealed that Universal Pictures is developing a new movie in the "Jurassic World" franchise, with David Koepp penning the screenplay. That was big news because Koepp, who has frequently collaborated with director Steven Spielberg during his long career, penned the script for the original "Jurassic Park." Given the love that movie still has more than 30 years later, it's a big deal. And, given that Koepp hasn't worked on this franchise since "The Lost World," it's a curious development. That part was, indeed, surprising. What should not surprise anyone, though, is the fact that Universe is making another movie set in this universe.

The Jurassic Park franchise isn’t extinct quite yet. As reported by multiple outlets, a new Jurassic World reboot is being developed at Universal, with Jurassic Park and The Lost World screenwriter David Koepp spearheading the project.

Meant to launch a new era for the franchise, the film will have a new storyline. Per Deadline, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are not expected to return from the recent Jurassic World trilogy, nor are the original trilogy’s Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum.

While no director has been attached to the currently untitled movie, Koepp will pen the screenplay. It will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley serving as producers.

Some gigantic news today for lovers of dinosaur-centric cinema, as one of the original creatives behind "Jurassic Park" is returning to the fold more than 30 years later. The "Jurassic World" trilogy may have ended in 2022 with the release of "Jurassic World Dominion," but Universal Pictures is evidently trying to keep the series alive with a new movie -- one that might be coming our way sooner rather than later. While details are scarce for the time being, it has come to light that none other than David Koepp is writing a new movie in the franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Koepp is not only writing a new "Jurassic" movie, but it is pretty far along in the development process. So much so that a 2025 release date is said to be possible, which would be downright remarkable given that this is the first thing we've officially heard about the film.

We’ve confirmed that a new Jurassic World movie, a complete reboot, is being fast-tracked at Universal with the franchise’s original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. He adapted the first two movies from 1993 and 1997’s The Lost World from Michael Crichton’s novels.

The new movie will be a completely fresh take on a Jurassic era with Jurassic World castmembers Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return, nor the original trilogy’s thespians Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill.

The film will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment, Frank Marshall, and Patrick Crowley will produce.

The Jurassic movies through six titles have grossed more than $6 billion worldwide. The last installment, Jurassic World: Dominion, released in 2022 made $1 billion at the global box office.

Executive Vice President of Production Development Sara Scott and Creative Executive of Production Development Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for the Studio.

The crime then leads her down a deadly path where she uncovers a deadly conspiracy.

Schitt’s Creek star Daniel Levy will also debut his first film as writer and director with Good Grief on Netflix this month. The movie follows Levy’s character Marc as he does some soul-searching after the death of his husband.

A new year is around the corner, and Netflix is ready to celebrate! The streamer has released its full list of titles that will be coming to its platform to start 2024 off right, including classics and library hits, such as the first three films in the “John Wick” franchise, Train to Busan, and more.

The bulk of Netflix’s new titles, though, comes from its own original series, films, comedy specials, documentaries, and animes. Debuting in January will be “The Brothers Sun,” a new black comedy action series starring Justin Chien, Sam Song Li, and Michelle Yeoh; as well as the Sofía Vergara-led mini-series “Griselda”; new seasons of “Queer Eye” and “Masters of the Universe: Revolution”; Dan Levy’s dramedy “Good Grief”; and comedy specials from Jacqueline Novak, Jack Whitehall, and Rachid Badouri.

If you followed indie film in the 90s, Vince Vaughn was at the center of a legendary tale. As the story goes, in order to get permission to use the theme from Jaws in the film Swingers, Doug Liman screened the film for Steven Spielberg’s approval. Not only did Stevie Boy allow them to use the scary shark tune but the legendary director knew he had to work with whoever was playing Trent Walker. And, he did just that when he cast Vince Vaughn in his Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World. Spielberg instantly knew that Vince Vaughn was superstar material and he was correctomundo. Over the last nearly 30 years, he has given us some of the best comedic performances mixed in with some bone chilling anti-heroes. But it seems in the past few years Vaughn has slowed down his output to focus on smaller roles in more meaningful projects.

Steven Spielberg has given us some of the greatest adventures ever seen on the big screen, whether it's the exploits of Indiana Jones, surviving a theme park gone wrong in "Jurassic Park," tracking down a man-eating shark in open water, or trying to find treasure while running from dangerous criminals in "The Goonies." The many festivities surrounding the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park will continue into July, as Universal Products & Experiences and Amblin Entertainment will be bringing a massive activation to San Diego Comic Con. The two day experience is set to take place between July 21 and July 22 and will recreate some iconic moments from the 1993 film.

Be sure to “Hang, on to your butts” because the activation will recreate the infamous scene where corporate attorney Donald Gennaro (played by Martin Ferrero) attempts to run and hide is ultimately attacked by the Dilophosaurus and then his ill-fated toilet trip when he eventually meets up with the T. Rex! As, Dr. Ian Malcom said, “When you gotta go, you gotta go”! A first look at the activation, seen above, shows a recreation of that famous toilet and a definite visit from the T. Rex!

Chan has never minced words when it came to his admiration for director Steven Spielberg. Spielberg was less than a handful of filmmakers who Chan would’ve worked with for free if he needed to. George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, and James Cameron were other directors he would’ve been fine collaborating with without pay.

“I want to find out what happen, my action and their technology,” Chan once told The New York Times.

Chan would finally get the opportunity to meet the Oscar-winning filmmaker for a project Spielberg had in mind.
