Chris Redd is overhauling one of his favorite pieces of pop-culture history. The former Saturday Night Live comic is the star of Netflix’s Resurrected Rides (premiering July 24th), a revamped version of 2000s classic Pimp My Ride. “I’m so excited,” Redd tells me. “I want everybody to binge it. “Pimp My Ride” is back … sort of. Actor and comedian Chris Redd is set to host Netflix’s new motor makeover series “Resurrected Rides,” which will premiere on July 24. The series will feature eight 40-minute episodes.

Rick Hurvitz, who co-created “Pimp My Ride,” which aired on MTV from 2004 to 2007, serves as an executive producer on the series, along with Brandon Killion, Ari Shofet and Mike Odair.

Per the official logline, “Resurrected Rides” is “an entirely new motor makeover series for the modern age,” with Redd and his team of mechanics helping “deserving owners transform their beloved beaters into roadworthy masterpieces.”

“We took the spirit and knowledge from the original and reimagined it with a hilarious host, brand new cast, plus the eye-popping technology and culture of today,” says Hurvitz. Jacob Elordi hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend and one of the sketches that didn’t make it to air was a Pimp My Ride spoof that featured a cameo from Xzibit.

In the cut-for-time sketch, Elordi plays a janitor named Sergei. The Please Don’t Destroy group, consisting of Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, finds out Sergei’s “car is busted” and gets an idea to spruce up his vehicle.

The trio approaches Sergei at a bus stop and surprises him, transforming his van “into a fully customized trash wagon,” which included a “fresh paint job, new decals, and a custom vanity plate” that reads, “Sergei da trash king.”

Will.i.am Presents the Fyi Show will debut on SiriusXM’s The 10s Spot on Jan. 25, and the weekly show will air on Thursdays at 9 p.m. Et. Qd.pi — the first-ever AI co-host on SiriusXM — will discuss music, pop culture, technology and AI-related topics alongside the Black Eyed Peas leader and technophile.

“I didn’t want to just do a traditional show, I wanted to bring tomorrow close to today, and so I wanted to have my co-host be an AI,” will.i.am tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m ultra-freaking colorful and expressive. Tiffany Haddish is still haunted by how she was treated on her first film.

The “Girl’s Trip” breakout star and recent “Haunted Mansion” actress told the Associated Press in the below video that she was never paid for her film debut, despite being told her salary would be $1,200. Haddish was also homeless at the time.

“My very first movie I ever did that I was the star in, I was homeless while I was shooting that movie,” Haddish said. “They were supposed to pay me $1,200 to do the movie. I wasn’t in the union. It was non-union film so there was nothing I could do about it. They never paid me. They never paid me a dime.”

She continued, “The producers gave me 10 DVDs and said, ‘Sell those. Good luck.’ I never saw the movie.”

While Haddish did not name the film, her first credited role was in 2005’s “The Urban Demographic.

The woman tasked with investigating how much the BBC knew about sexual misconduct allegations against former radio DJ Tim Westwood has said she has combed through 50,000 documents in her search for evidence.

Gemma White Kc, who was appointed last year by the BBC to carry out an independent inquiry into Westwood, said she expects to report her findings by early July at the latest. The BBC has committed to publishing her review in full. Westwood has strongly denied wrongdoing.

In an update on her work, White said that as well as conducting searches on BBC papers, she had interviewed individuals who worked at the broadcaster during the period in which Westwood presented shows for Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

As a college student in the 2000s, I often found myself getting sucked into MTV’s Pimp My Ride. I couldn’t help it. Not only was it on all the damn time, it had its feel-good formula down to a science: Xzibit’s boundless enthusiasm plus extravagant car modifications plus deserving participants made for a mood boost I generally found irresistible, whether I’d been looking for one or not. Still, when word got around that the experience hadn’t been all it was cracked up to be behind the scenes — that some of the heartwarming personal stories had been demeaning exaggerations, and that the upgrades were often barely functional — it came as little surprise. This was Hollywood. Of course it had all been for show.

I thought of Pimp My Ride often as I made my way through Rennervations, which likewise combines cheery sentiment and insanely tricked-out vehicles...

Between the Sundance-laurelled “Against the Tide,” “Pathaan'”s thundering box-office and Netflix’s quietly gripping miniseries “Trial by Fire,” India is on a roll in Q1 of 2023, consolidating the recent red-carpet success of “Rrr” and “All That Breathes.”

In theory, that slate should be bolstered further by the return of nifty genre technicians Raj & Dk – writer-director-producers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. – who helped renovate the haunted-house movie with 2018’s “Stree” before handing Prime Video one of its biggest Indian hits with “The Family Man.”

Yet the oddly flat “Farzi” suggests the limitations of the pair’s approach – and that even streaming’s brighter minds might be prone to burnout.

Until now, the pair’s formula has been comparable to Xzibit’s on “Pimp My Ride”: take a clapped-out banger of a story and extensively redesign it. “Farzi” pushes its luck from the off with its uncommonly generic, get-rich-or-die-trying plot.

Bruce Beresford-Redman, an ex-producer of the reality television show “Survivor,” has been released from a Mexican prison after serving time for his wife’s murder.

Beresford-Redman was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he was convicted of killing his wife Mónica Burgos in 2010 while on a family vacation at the luxury Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. Investigators said Beresford-Redman killed his wife during a confrontation. Her bruised, naked body was found in a sewer.

Now after serving seven and a half years of his original sentence, Ktla reports that Beresford-Redmanand is living back in Southern California after being released from prison two months ago.

“Thanks, I really have no comment. I appreciate your interest,” Beresford-Redman told reporters who went to his home in Southern California. “Thank you. There’s no comment.”

Bruce Beresford-Redman, a former producer on reality series Survivor, has been released from a Mexican prison after spending years behind bars in connection with the death of his wife.

The TV producer was convicted in the killing of his wife Mónica Burgos during a family vacation with their two children in 2010. Her naked and beaten body was found in a septic tank at a Cancun resort, on what would have been her 42nd birthday.

Investigators said at the time that Burgos died following a violent confrontation with her husband, and the case made international headlines.

Beresford-Redman, now 48, maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. In a 48 Hours television special, he insisted he’d done nothing wrong.

“I’ve been accused of a horrible, abhorrent crime and I’m innocent,” he stated. “I did not kill Mónica.”

He returned home to Southern California, but was arrested in November 2010 and extradited to Mexico.

In an attempt to reach more teenaged viewers, the BBC is rolling out a digital content slate that includes two shows led by YouTubers. Gamer Ali-a will host a Gen-z take on Pimp My Ride, which beauty vlogger Mimi Missfit will lead an exploration of regional attitudes toward sex education.

Ali-a's contribution to the BBC digital slate, titled I'm Not Driving That, asks new drivers to pass an advanced test in order to earn the right to have their vehicles remodeled. While fans are crying over Mandy Moore’s Golden Globe-nominated performance on NBC’s hit new series This Is Us, it was just 15 years ago that they cried over her performance in the weepy adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ book about a girl with cancer who falls in love with a rebellious classmate.

Earlier this month, a tweet hinted that Vh1 Classic would soon become MTV Classic but now we have all the details. On August 1 — the 35th anniversary of MTV's launch — MTV Classic will kick off by reairing its first hour. From there, the network will start to air all of your favorite shows, from Clone High to The Real World. Other shows featured will be Beavis & Butt-Head (the original, I'm assuming, and not the recent-ish reboot), its Daria spinoff, Pimp My Ride, Laguna Beach, Road Rules, Jackass, and more. MTV Classic is bringing the ’90s back to your living room. Starting Aug. 1, VH1 Classic will be rebranded as MTV Classic. The channel will bring back all your favorite 90’s and early 2000’s shows like “Beavis & Butthead,” “Daria,” “Pimp My Ride” and “Aeon Flux,” among others. The launch of the new channel is tied to the 35th anniversary of the launch of MTV. They will kick things off with “MTV Hour One,” which will replay the original first hour of programming ever aired on MTV. The launch will also see a retrospective on “Total Request Live” entitled “The Trl Decade.

The Empire is expanding. TVLine reports Xzibit will be a series regular in season three of the Fox TV show.

The actor and hip hop artist made his series debut as Shyne Johnson in the music drama's season two finale, which aired on May 18th. Xzibit has previously appeared as the host of MTV's Pimp My Ride and in Hawaii Five-o.

A Mexican judge in Cancun sentenced Bruce Beresford-Redman on Thursday to 12 years in prison and issued a $2,791 (43,000 peso) fine for the murder of his wife Monica Burgos in 2010. Excuse us if we're bursting your bubble here, but it turns out that MTV's beloved fixer-upper car show Pimp My Ride was total bullshit. The Huffington Post interviewed a few of the show's past contestants, who each had different complaints about the show's "reality" — everything from producers removing the add-ons after the show was done taping ("they actually take out a lot of the stuff that they showed on TV") to "pimped" items that "were occasionally put into cars with no intention of them ever working in real life."
