Brilliant plastic surgeon Circe discovers her new husband is a member of the Japanese mafia - the Yakuza. Under duress, she is taken to Japan and forced to perform facial surgery on the leader of the Yakuza to change his appearance. Her husband is killed and after fleeing back to Brazil with the Yakuza on her tail, Circe is involved in an horrific accident in which her sister, Lia, dies and her own face is badly burnt and disfigured. Her childhood sweetheart, Dr Lucas, also a plastic surgeon, saves her life and transplants her sister's face onto her own in order to shield her from the Yakuza. To make matters worse, everybody but Lucas believes Circe to be Lia, including Lia's fiancée, Fabio. Circe is also pregnant by her late husband, but Fabio believes the baby to be his. Circe is also surrounded by friends and family who she must now deceive in order to keep her secret and protect her own life.
This is a great story with a wealth of subplots that keeps you hooked right from the start, and has the perfect mixture of drama, suspense, romance and comedy. The soundtrack - seemingly unavailable - is also first class. Unfortunately, this drama does not air on TV Globo, and as a result doesn't get the viewing figures it deserves.
