The thriller The Woman in the Yard, which is coming our way from Blumhouse Productions, Universal Pictures, and director Jaume Collet-Serra, was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but it was recently bumped off the Universal release slate entirely to make room for another Blumhouse / Universal collaboration, the Wolf Man reboot directed by Leigh Whannell. (Wolf Man is now scheduled for a January 17 release.) The release date shake-up isn’t slowing down The Woman in the Yard‘s momentum, though. Deadline reports that the project has just added another cast member: Russell Hornsby of The Hate U Give and Fences.
Hornsby joins the previously announced Danielle Deadwyler of The Devil to Pay and Till in the cast. Okwui Okpokwasili of The Exorcist: Believer and I Am Legend is also in there.

In a world consumed by celebrity culture and stardom, Chadwick Boseman was a selective and consummate method actor. He rarely gave interviews, or allowed the public access to his personal life. Boseman, who died August 28 at the age of 43, never spoke publicly about his colon cancer diagnosis, which he received four years ago. “His parents are very humble and private people. It does not surprise me that he decided to be very private about his illness and through the stages of death,” said Terence Roberts, mayor of Anderson, S.C., Boseman’s hometown. “It speaks to his character. His values were instilled by them.”
As a performer almost obsessively dedicated to the details of his craft, tributes will surely praise Chadwick Boseman’s diligent preparation. While that indicated the commitment he brought to his characters, the pleasure in watching him on screen didn’t lie in his homework; it was his uncanny ability to disappear.

Chadwick Boseman, who died of colon cancer on Friday at age 43, made a striking impression in both TV and on the big screen in his too-short time in the spotlight.
Nathaniel Ray, “Lincoln Heights” (2008-09)
Chadwick Boseman had popped in small TV roles in the early 2000s but he had his first major breakthrough role in this ABC Family drama as a member of the U.S. Army who belatedly learns he’s the son of the series lead (Russell Hornsby).
Graham McNair, “Persons Unknown” (2010)
He followed “Lincoln Heights” with a role on a short-lived NBC drama about a group of strangers who find themselves plunked into a ghost town.
Jackie Robinson, “42” (2013)
Chadwick Boseman landed his first lead role on the big screen in Brian Helgeland’s biopic of Jackie Robinson, the first Black player to break into Major League Baseball. He starred opposite Harrison Ford, who played the Brooklyn Dodgers’ general manager.

Russell Hornsby has been cast in the lead role in the NBC drama pilot “Lincoln,” Variety has confirmed.
Based on the bestselling book series by Jeffery Deaver, “Lincoln” follows legendary forensic criminologist Lincoln Rhyme (Hornsby), who was seriously injured during his hunt for the diabolic serial killer known as the Bone Collector. Called back into action when the killer re-emerges, Lincoln forms a unique partnership with Amelia Sachs, a young beat cop who helps him hunt the deadly mastermind while also taking on the most high-profile cases in the NYPD.
Hornsby currently stars in the Fox drama “Proven Innocent,” so this pilot is in second position to that project. However, “Proven Innocent” opened to low ratings just over two weeks ago. NBC crime drama Lincoln Rhyme adapts The Bone Collector, the 1999 crime thriller based on the novel by Jeffery Deaver.
The Bone Collector is about to be collected by NBC. The Peacock Network is set to debut a serial television adaptation of the Jeffery Deaver crime novel-turned 1999 movie, which starred Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. However, the small screen adaptation will brandish the formal title, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, after its main character.

Not long after producers confirmed that Supergirl Season 2 would feature a multiple-episode visit from Superman, the CW (formerly CBS) drama has announced that Hoechlin has landed this iconic role.
He will guest star on the first two installments of the series this fall as The Man of Steel.
“[Executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” Supergirl showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement.
“We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Best known for his role on Teen Wolf alpha Derek Hale, Hoechlin’s previous TV credits also include:

Alright, Neptune, California residents, let’s hear some applause, because Weevil is back in the house. Actor Francis Capra, who brought to life Eli “Weevil” Navarro on the beloved Veronica Mars television series, is the latest cast member to promise to return with the film.
Since the series sang its swansong, Capra has busied himself by appearing on a wide range of TV shows, the likes of which include Friday Night Lights, Lincoln Heights, Heroes, Sons of Anarchy, Blue Bloods, Bones and Touch.
Capra is probably best known for his Veronica Mars character, though and I’m sure the cast is very excited to be reunited with him. We have been keeping our fingers on the pulse of CBS’s upcoming Stephen King adaptation called Under the Dome. In the news today, the 13-episode science fiction thriller has hired actress Aisha Hinds to play an interesting attorney with a problem. We’ve got the details.
Hinds will act in the role of Carolyn Hill, who is a strong, independent Los Angeles entertainment attorney who gets trapped in Chester’s Mill while driving through town with her partner and their daughter. There’s nothing like driving through a small town and getting sidelined by a giant dome. There’s no way through it, so the family is stuck. The drama in this vignette may be particularly striking because the couple was on the way to a camp for troubled youth, where they intended to drop off their daughter, explained Deadline.

Everyone everywhere is wearing purple in the name of Lgbt pride and acceptance. So if you see someone on the street today wearing a shade of violet, I advocate going up and giving them a hug. Here's Sara Gilbert over at The Talk on why she'll be wearing a purple tie today on the show.
For the record, I'm wearing purple pants today.
In the web series Squaresville's season finale, Zelda comes out to her friend Esther and things get weird.

Amber Heard was all smiles at the Guess Girl Fragrance Launch recently. I bet she smells like loveliness.

It’s a good news/bad news report. Unfortunately, the bad news is that NBC has now confirmed that Mockingbird Lane, the Bryan Fuller-written-and-produced re-imagining of The Munsters, will not be produced as a series. The somewhat good news is that we don’t lose everything; the one hour pilot has been refashioned into a special, to air the Friday before Halloween.
Mr. Fuller himself tweeted this upbeat interpretation:
#Mockingbirdlane Lives!
— Bryan Fuller (@BryanFuller) October 11, 2012
It is perhaps a remote possibility that, should the special do well, the series still could become a reality, but that is wild speculation. Here’s the press release, which also details the episode of Grimm that will follow the special, and which will feature a Latin American folk tale:

Good morning!
Bisexual actress Olivia Thirlby talked about her new film, Nobody Walks, and the sexual energy of her character.
Sexual energy and sexual expression are definitely big themes of this film and also of Martine, her character, and also of her art. If you look at that bug film, she even says that she was basically trying to make something not sexual. But, to me, that film is really sexual. You watch it and there’s something sensual about it. And, I think for people, sexual impulses are hard to control. It’s just part of being a human and this film presents people who are not controlling their sexual impulses properly.

Nobody Walks is available on iTunes this weekend.
Gina Gershon says she still gets a lot of love from her lesbian fans. (Duh.)

Some stars of the iconic stoner flick "Up In Smoke" have falled on hard times. Actor Tommy Chong went public this summer about his battle with prostate cancer. Actress June Fairchild, the woman who snorted a whole plate of Ajax, has been homeless and struggling with addiction for years.
Another "Up In Smoke" hard luck case? A little home in Lincoln Heights. Curbed La points us to the property, on the market for $344,900. Featured in the movie as cousin Strawberry's stoner shack, it was the setting for scenes like a police bust, the infamous Ajax snorting episode and Strawberry's paranoid Vietnam flashback.
Watch:
As you can see from the movie clips, the home currently resembles the worn-down stoner shack it was in the 1970s. Public records show the property was foreclosed twice: once in 1999 and again in 2011.
Still, with the right owners, the home could rise again! The 2,577 square-foot property has four bedrooms,...
