I thought this was a great short film. Saw it at the Tribeca Film Festival. It was well acted, well directed, didn't try to do too much. It had a lot of subtlety to it. Strong visuals. It was a beautiful meditation on guilt and denial. The lead girl has conflicted emotions about her mother. She meets a man who asks her to donate her hair and she is confronted with a dilemma.
Psychologically, this film worked on many levels. She was hurt. She was punishing herself. She was expressing her sexuality. It rode a very fine line all the way through.
The tone was great; the perfect amount of weird and tense. You thought it was going to go one place but then it surprises you. There is no imposing message here. Just simple and truthful.
