Varun Dhawan has joined Sunny Deol in the cast of Bollywood war epic “Border 2,” Variety has confirmed.

The film will be directed by Anurag Singh who previously helmed Akshay Kumar-starring “Kesari” (2019), based on the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897.

“Border 2” is a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster “Border,” also headlined by Deol, where, in 1971, along the border region of Longewala, a small battalion of Indian soldiers combat a large Pakistani strike force.

Gulshan Kumar and T-Series and Dutta’s J.P. Films are presenting “Border 2.” Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, the film is due to release on Jan. 23, 2026, during the Republic Day holiday frame.

Dhawan’s recent releases include “Bawaal” and “Bhediya” and he has Prime Video series “Citadel: Honey Bunny” coming up. Deol enjoyed massive box office success in 2023 with “Gadar 2.

For now, ‘Shershaah’ will remain Sidharth Malhotra’s most notable performance and a successful film at that. Pitching himself to feel pride in wearing the uniform is a great gesture indeed. We do agree but as far as this film goes, it sounded skippable right from its announcement. For me, the buck stopped at its title, which is a stumbling block in the power of the word, ‘Yoddha’ means a warrior. Had it been spelt correctly ‘Yoddha’, it would have derived a different level of power (n.b. I am not a numerologist). Just by positioning a film as patriotic or nationalist does not earn brownie points. It needs to have equal amount of substance in the narrative to support the subject matter.

Surprisingly, Indian filmmakers have been, in the recent times, presenting a unique way of calling out our neighbours with a mushy-mushy gesture, of protecting their head of state in their own country!

Shah Rukh Khan, the king of Bollywood, is ready to make a grand comeback with his upcoming action thriller Jawan. The film, directed by Atlee, has been certified U/A by the Cbfc with a runtime of 2 hours 49 minutes. The film is set to release on September 7, 2023, coinciding with Janmashtami.

Jawan marks the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee, who is known for his blockbuster Tamil films. Mumbai, May 10 (Ians) Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who was most recently seen in ‘An Action Hero’, is set to perform at the Iifa Awards this year in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

The International Indian Film Academy Awards, popularly known as Iifa, is returning for its 23rd edition on May 26 and 27 and will see the who’s who of Bollywood in attendance with deserving artistes being honoured for their work in Hindi cinema for last year.

Iifa is the world’s biggest celebration of Indian cinema and it is set to bring together the very best in music and entertainment under one roof.

Celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani took to Instagram and shared a video of the ‘Shershaah’ actor, who gave a witty reply on being asked to pose solo for the cameras.

When the photographers asked him to pose solo, he said: “Ab main solo raha nahi (I am not solo anymore).”

Viral Bhayani shared a post on Instagram that his team is leaving for the wedding, which will reportedly take place at the luxurious Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer.

He wrote, “We are heading to Jaisalmer to cover Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra’s wedding. We will land tomorrow and then take a jeep to Jaisalmer.”
