I'm unsure why this currently has such a low rating (5.4). Sure, it's a bit campy, a bit cheesy, but that's the entire point, and I love it.
This film is supposed to be what comfort food feels like. You watch it and it makes you feel warm and fuzzy - unless you're a critic, in which case you'll be mighty disappointed with its silly humour, somewhat simple characters, and lack of deep, esoteric subtext.
The characters are written to play well off of each other, and the actors bring them to life. The plot is vibrant and empathetic. You'll be rooting for everyone in this film.
Don't go in expecting some deep, philosophical film. It's a fun, light-hearted comedy, with a healthy mix of humour and campiness. If you want some easy, feel-good watching, this is the film for you.
7/10; I would personally recommend this to friends.

I can't believe that this movie has a rating of 5.4, did all the others see a different movie? Great story, very clever, great acting. Funny, what more do you want?
I went to see this in the cinema today and I absolutely loved it. The characters are excellent, the plot was interesting and all the actors were a pleasure to watch. I easily gave it ten stars - which I don't do lightly. I'm so glad this movie was made.

Engaging but finally soft centered account of screw-up orphan Adams, with a horror of old people confirmed by his run in with a mean shopping granny that gets him sentenced to Community service at the Maison de Mimosas retirement center, where he moves from antagonist to associate of the oldies exploited by a crooked manager.
Multi skilling Adams manages to engage but Depardieu takes over the piece's focus and without him it loses momentum. Mylène Demongeot who we remember as a teenager and as Steve Reeves' love interest!
Nice performances and OK look with the designer of Depardieu's CYRANO participating.
